Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I bought a bunch of them last year but only started fishing them this month. They work really well. The ones I have been using are made by Basstrix and I have used the 5" mostly but I have 4" and now some 6" I just got in. I have been rigging them with a weighted offset hook and I use a #4 treble hanging off of the bend of the hook when SM fishing. More than half of the fish are still hooked with the big hook though.
What brand and size do you like or dislike?
How are you guys rigging them? Weedless, jighead, bladerunner?
Have you caught both LM and SM on them?
How deep do you think they work?

He called me yesterday. He was using the 3.5 inch Kamakazee in bluegill......

Was Russell using the 3.5 or 4 inch Kamakazee? How was he rigging it? Did he mention that I taught him how to fish?

I will never forget the very first Basstrix swimbait smallie I hooked, a 5.7 lber before I finished my coffee, kind of made me a believer! I have also tried the 6 " Kamakazee which is a deeper bait and has great tail action, but I haven't tried the smaller Kamakazee that Neil Russell used to win the FLW.

I love both the 6" and the 5" Basstrix for largemouth and smallmouths. My favorite rigging method is the BladeRunner swimbait hook which was designed specifically for hollow body swimbaits using a Basstrix for the model. I don't use a trailer hook because I seem to get more bites without it, and less snags and debris. The better bass totally engulf this lure.

I fish it down to about 15 feet, but mostly near the surface. I hope to get better at working it deeper this summer, but I have other swimbaits like the LA Slider that I use in deeper applications.

ciao,
Marc
No he did not mention that but he did say that you were a douche.
Daniel are you looking I have quite a few 3"-6" original some of the packages are broken just from age. The plastic package gets brittle.

Marc, Do you have any original LA Sliders?
I just got some of the Kamakazee Treats Swimbaits from Tackle Warehouse. In the interest of being consistent in my purchasing habits I bought 6 different colors in 4 different sizes. My biggest hope is that they are working really well when my so called "besty" is with me so I can tell him to buy his own when he is begging me to give him one.

Have any of you guys used this particular brand yet?
I have a few sizes and colors. Primarily Kokanee in the 3.5 and I believe 6. Since I have never figured out how to rig these things straight enough to not roll on the retrieve I use various jig head designs in various sizes. They paddle nicely but I have yet to hook up. I like Daniel T's method of just nose hooking and will give it a go in the morning. Check out BassTrix in 6" baby bass for the Spin Trix head. Sick man! This thing is gonna get murdered when I finally put in the right spot.

Hey Eric,

I have used the Kamakazee Treats. They swim really well but I find they are slightly more temperamental with the rigging than the Basstrix. They have to be rigged perfectly straight to swim right but I do like them quite a bit. Good purchase.
