Is it ok to have lures "with hooks attach" in your carry on luggage.

Do anyone know if you can have lures "with hooks attach" in your carry on luggage while your travelling? I plan on travelling to California to do a couple days of fishing.

Thanks,

This is from TSA website :

The prohibited items list is not intended to be all-inclusive and is updated as necessary. To ensure travelers' security, Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) may determine that an item not on the Prohibited Items List is prohibited.

Sun,

I just went through security (as in I am waiting to board the plane right now) with a spinnerbait, 2 crankbaits, a topwater, and several packages of hooks, including two Value Packs of 4/0 and 5/0 Gamakatsu Superline EWG hooks. I was a bit concerned as those are large hooks but it was no problem. Based on that, I would say you should be just fine. Have a great trip!

I fly back to Michigan to meet my buddies fishing every summer. To prevent the airlines from losing my baggage, I'd always carry on my tackle. They might look in your bag, but they're fine with hooks and tackle.
Bonnie,

Hey, thank you for the information. This is good news. I plan on taking a few swimbaits so hopefully that shouldn't be a problem.

I have flown about 6 times this year with hooks in my carry on luggage and about 30 pound of other tackle. I have never had any problems, except one time I carried on all my plastics and they couldn't see through it so they had too inspect my baggage.
Regardless of what the airlines say, found out the hard way coming home from Bass Pro in Mesa, AZ. I had about $100 worth of crankbaits, etc. in my carry on and had to hand em' over :-( I now make sure I check that kind of stuff in my checked luggage.
