Lippincott, Treffrey win Nixon's Invitational; Hobbs' 8-pounder

Kent Brown of Ultimate Bass Radio might've said it best when we chatted with him yesterday on NW Wild Country, live from Day 1 of the Nixon's Marine Invitational Tournament on Moses Lake.

"This lake reminds me of Clear Lake," Brown said about Moses Lake, high praise from a guy who knows a thing or two about California's best trophy largemouth lake.

Judging by what happened this weekend at the Nixon's Invitational, it's clear that KB wasn't blowing smoke. Starting with Ron Hobbs' 8-plus pounder on Day 1 (left) and finishing with four 20-plus-pound bags on Day 2, Moses performed like a "mini Clear Lake".

Marc Lippincott and Chris Treffrey cashed a check for $10,500 with 21.58 pounds to edge out Hobbs and Mike Wolsky (20.36), Dave Marlow and Steve McMannis (20.28), and Paul Hall and Jarrid Turner (20.10).

Awesome Toad Batman !! Looks like you found your mojo again, ooo boy it gonna be long year .. lol

I agree with Johnson.  It's a "Guppy".   But, the fish in the foreground IS pretty big.

Seriously, to all the anglers that helped  make this a great event, I offer my sincere thanks.  My gut tells me that our season is about to kick into high gear.  Best of luck to all, regardless of where you decide to cast your line!  Catchem big!

P.S.  To Lippy and Honcho----a great win!  Well done gentlemen!
