For an area that is marked with no wake buoys, is the no wake zone only between the buoys and shore or does it also extend out from the buoys into the lake? If it extends out, how far out?
Also, how far does the no wake zone extend from docks (if there is one)?
Thanks for your help.

Hey BJ,
Its from the shoreline to the buoy. Roughly 200 ft.
But Tapps is a special lake..EXEMPTIONS!!
All standard boating rules apply to everyone EXCEPT for those WHO LIVE ON THE LAKE which sucks!
If you are coming into shore you'd better be down off plane before you get to the "No Wake " buoy.
I hate Tapps just because of the frekin' EXEMPTIONS. Regular Joes get nailed for not following the laws and Homer homeowner out there can get away with breaking the law..its unjust. That lake is dangerous enough as it is now. Those exemptions were in place way back when the lake was created. Its time it gets within the guidelines of boaters safety program so no one else gets hurt, hit or killed out there.. thats my rant and i'm sticking to it! Thanks, Todd
Thanks for the information guys. I was not on Tapps, and not cited for a violation. Just talking with my Dad during my son's first time on the boat. I also tried for a bit to look at the coast gaurd sites to see what the rules are. The C.G. recommends keeping 100 yards from all buoys for safety.
But does anyone know about no wake zones in front of docks and how far this extends if there is one?
Thanks again,
BJ
My understanding is the no-wake zone is from the buoy to the dock, unless you're on a jet ski. Then, you can use the buoys as your own personal slalom course. At least, that seems to be the practice on Whatcom.
