Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I spent the Memorial Day weekend on Roosevelt, if you guys haven’t been out there yet you should check it out. My dad and I caught a ton of fish with most being around a pound but there were some 3's and 4's mixed in. But I was shocked when I landed a 2lb largemouth on a footballhead off plum point! Definitely not largemouth water!! Have any of you guys heard of a good population or any population of largemouth in that area? I have caught some up in the Spokane arm but never any west of the Spokane arm. Definitely the highlight of the trip for me, well that and catching fish on 7 different types of lures on Sunday made for good times=)

the sanpoli arm has largemouth too. in fact that fish you caught was probably swimming back up there from spring canyon a year ago.
I was fishing Roosevelt from Weds. 'til Sunday afternoon and caught a ton of fish, mostly smallies from1-2 lbs. I did manage to catch several walleyes too! but the weather was sure lousy. I usually fish the Spokane Arm but did not because it was closed for walleyes and I did not want to be continually stopped by WDFW or Tribals to see what I was doing so I stayed out in the main lake.
Joel, no largies for me anywhere around plum point, but catching 100 fish in a day is no difficult task. I agree, when I fish Roosevelt I take all those things I've bought in the past that have never caught fish, and find out if they actually will catch a fish. Good for building confidence in a technique you're not comfortable with. Its great to get the feedback from the fish to let you know you're doing something right.

Its going to be the Moses Lake of a couple of years ago, a sleeper that no big tournaments fish... just wait till NW goes there in August going to be some big bags of smallies for an august time frame.
Steve I agree, there is a solid population of 3 and 4 pounders in that lake now. Not like ten years ago when the lake was full of rats...thank you Kokanee fry=) It will be fun to see how that one unfolds.
