Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

It's good to see Gene Batey on the site. i know who he is but he doesn't know me, but as a fellow tri-cities guy i would like to hear Gene's and other east siders thoughts on somethng that gripes me to no end.
that is the coasties poaching our spots after we have worked week in and week out to develop and learn them.
I can't tell you how many times i've had a coastie pull up right where I'm fishng and act as if he "discovered" the spot on his own.

Oh my---this is going to be good!
O.K., I will bite. A good fisherman is going to find productive water no matter where he is from. Who is to say that the "coasties" didn't actually find the spot before you. I understand frustration if people encroach on water that you are on, or the frustration of finding good fish in practice, just to get a crappy draw come tournament time and find that someone is already on the spot you wanted. I guess in case you haven't heard, this is called fishing! If you have found fish in a certain type of area, go duplicate it somewhere else. I know this isn't possible in some situations, but most of the time it is what needs to be done. What about the east side guys coming over to Lake Washington and poaching spots? Does it happen? You bet it does, but guys adapt and roll with the punches. I would like to get Ron's, Marc's, or Maderos's two cents on this. How many times has this happened to them on western lakes. I bet they overcame the problem by using their knowledge to find more water. By the way, I live in western Washington and my tournament partner live in eastern Washington. What does that make us? Bi Coasties? LOL..
You know, in this state there are not a lot of secrets any more. Most decent spots have been found. And also, with todays elecronics, its even easier to find good water. Get used to it Pat.
Well rounded?

Yup. I really don't have a lot of time on some of the east side lakes, but its pretty easy to find good stuff with an HDS and side imaging. I try not to impose on other guys water, but if I find it and it looks good, I'm gonna fish it.
Poaching is the illegal taking of wild plants or animals contrary to local and international conservation and wildlife management laws. Violations of hunting and fishing laws and regulations are normally punishable by law and, collectively, such violations are known as poaching.

The game or fish is not in season.

The poacher does not possess a valid permit.

The poacher is illegally selling the animal, animal parts or plant for a profit.

The animal is being hunted outside of legal hours.

The hunter used an illegal weapon for that animal.

The animal or plant is on restricted land.

The right to hunt this animal is claimed by somebody.

The type of bait is inhumane. (e.g. food unsuitable for an animal's health)

The means used are illegal (for example, baiting a field while hunting quail or other animals, using spotlights to stun or paralyze deer, or hunting from a moving vehicle, watercraft, or aircraft).

The animal or plant is protected by law or that it has been listed as extinct or endangered (see for example the Endangered Species Act for the USA or the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 and similar laws/treaties.

The animal or plant has been tagged by a researcher.

A bag limit is a law imposed on hunters and fishermen restricting the number of animals within a specific species or group of species they may kill and keep. Size limits and hunting seasons sometimes accompany bag limits which place restrictrions on the size of those animals and the time of year during which hunters may legally kill them. Those who routinely violate these laws or other hunting laws are known as poachers.

I was once told by Mr Harvey Lenoard that its your so called secret spot until you let one person see you on it then its community water. I was also told by Ron Hobbs that there are no more secrets you just have to catch them better than your competition if they catch a 2 on that spot you have to catch a 3.
Let me guess, you're a coastie???? Typical....
