Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I am going to San Diego or more specifically Santee in a couple weeks. Does anyone know of some local bass lakes I might be able to hit while I am there? I don't think I will be able to round up a boat so I'll probably be fishing from shore.

Hey Mike,

I have had the opportunity to fish down there a couple of times with a friend of mine that lives in the San Diego area. I have only fished Otay and San Vicente. Both of these lakes are fantastic bass fisheries, and I do recall there being a little bit of shore access on both lakes. You may want to contact the tackle shops down there just to confirm. I know that the Santee Lakes offer good fishing and do not require a California license to fish. You just pay a fee. Lake Jennings, Miramar and Dixon are a few other options.
Mike,
Diamond Valley is not too far north of San Diego. They rent nice little Trackers at the marina and there is also plenty of shore access. As of a few weeks ago the water was too low to launch boats so rentals was your only option so if your thinking of doing that you may want to call ahead and reserve a boat. Have fun!
El Capitan, Poway, San Vicente, Dixon, Miramar, Hodges, Vail, and many more are all in reach. I have fished them all (but Dixon), and they can be very fun.

Contact John Cassidy at Angler's Arsenal while there, and be sure to stop in his tackle store for some cool stuff (http://www.anglersarsenal.com/). Tell John I said hello!

ciao,
Marc
Thanks for the info guys. I'm actually going down for a funeral...my Dad. I thought since our family used to fish together a lot when we were kids it would fun for us to wet a line and remember the "good ol' days"
We'll probably hit the Santee lakes, they are really close to where we are staying. I'll post a blog after I get back and let you know if we did any good.
Sorry to learn about your Dad, Mike. I lost mine a little over a year ago and I miss my days of fishing with him. Fishing with your family will be a good way to honor his memory!

ciao,
Marc

Thanks Marc, Sorry to hear about your Dad. I have 2 boys that are older now and still take them fishing often. I hope they will remember these trips like I remember the times with my Dad.

Best of luck out there.

Id hit Spring Lake, Castaic and of course the Stockton Delta. Yes i know that it is a lot further North but, you'll be driving right by it. Let me know, i'll hook you up with some people in the middle part of the state.
My condolences Mike. Lost mine years ago but I still miss the fishing days. Great memories. Like Kevin said...great tribute

Thanks to all for the thoughts and the info. The service for my Dad went well and several of us got together for an afternoon of fishing. I caught a 2-1/2lb LMB and my cousins boy Cameron, caught a smaller one. He is a real outdoorsman and especially likes bass fishing, he is going to make a trip out here this summer from Illinois and I plan on taking him out to hunt down some hawgs. Here is pic of the bass I caught with Cameron.
