I used garlic a lot at first, but the only difference I really noticed was a huge craving for Italian food once I was off the lake! However, I have used Kickin' Bass Anise Shad, and think the smallmouth like it. I also like the Smelly Jelly Anise Craw scent. Just my 2 cts.

I use MegaStrike , Not so much as a fish attractant , but more important to me just to cover up my "scent of man" !! BTW Finding that stuff in local tackle store is darn near impossible .. I had never heard of smelly jelly untill i came to washington but it seems be a hot scent out here , Im not really impressed with it ! I have always kept my theory on scent pretty simple which is too never allow it to play into my confidence while fishing , period !!

I use Trigger-X spray (similar to Gulp) and Megastrike.

Scents I believe just keep the human odor off, and once in a while will make the fish hold on longer. Trigger-X is a spray and you can marinade your baits in it, and Megastrike is a paste which stays on longer, but does not disperse in the water as well as Trigger-X. Both have a very distinct smell...and the Potholes Smallmouth sure don't mind it.

i like smelly jelly lizard on my jigs. but i put nothing on my reaction baits but i smear craw daddy on my hands to cover up the human odor.
