Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Fished Roses (near Chelan) last weekend and caught (and released) two largemouth with blue tags attached? WDW tag and number?

Anyone know what we should have done with them?

By releasing the fish and LEAVING  the tag in them you did exactly what you should have.  The tags are for a growth rate study being done on LMB in several of our waters here in Centeral Washington.  Good job on the catch and thank you for releasing them and leaving the tags intact

Sometimes, if you write down all the information such as tag number, weight, girth, length and general condition of the fish, where you caught it, they pay you  I believe up to twenty or twenty five dollars for each one you report.  Not all tagged fish qualify for that.  Either way though by reporting the information to the WDFW, you can help with the study and ultimately our sport.(in my opinion)

Sorry Clif if it came across that way I was in no way implying that you kept your fish...I was just mentioning it because I've just seen the tags from plenty of fish turned in(either pulled out and released or the fish was kept) and was trying to let people know that removing them from the fish is not the way to go.

I'm not aware of any program through WDFW that is currently paying for info on tagged bass.  I know the PUD has some reward tags on smallies in a portion of the Columbia but thats all I know of off the top of my head.

Todd,

Found this on Roses:  It looks old but I suspect its what you're looking for.
