Connecticut State Anglers Face Lead Fishing Tackle Ban
On January 5, legislation was introduced in the Connecticut General Assembly to prohibit the sale and use of lead sinkers weighing one ounce or less and lead jigs measuring one inch or less along the longest axis. This comes on the heels of a decision by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that a federal ban on lead fishing tackle is unwarranted. A ban on lead fishing tackle in Connecticut will have a significant negative impact on the state's recreational anglers and fisheries resources, but a negligible impact on the waterfowl populations that it seeks to protect. There is no scientific data to support such a ban. The proposed fine for violations of the proposed ban are approximately six times more severe than the fine for fishing without a license. ASA members are encouraged to write the Connecticut General Assembly in opposition to this legislation. Information and a template message

I sent a letter today, we need to fight this as a team, there are no boundaries for the anti fishing groups there should not be any for us! Support our fellow angers with their (Our) fight!

I think New Hampshire was the first state to do this a few years ago.  I don't recall the specifics but I remember Northern Bass Supply having to closeout its inventory of prohibited lead sizes.
Yes you are right, it was more like 6 or 7 years ago NH banned lead, I fished up there in 2003 and it was no-lead then. It was a shock and a experience learning to retie after catching each fish. The Bass fishing was VERY Good!
