Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I have lived on Tapps for 7 years and put in countless hours bass fishing this lake. I took a friend out this morning for a while. He was fighting a smallie about 1.5 lbs when out of the depths came the biggest musky I've ever seen. I caught one last year flipping for LM that went 48 -50 inches and this fish dwarfed it. He (or she) lazily chased the sm around for at least 20 seconds before losing interest. I have seen a ton and have caught at least a dozen while bass fishing, but this one was an absolute monster. I can't even guess the size of it...

Thats good to hear. I haven't seen a GIANT musky out there in a while. I hear that there have been quite a few monsters taken from the lake.

OK Mike - the important question was where the heck were you fishing?????
Mike,
Prior to the 50" rule, there were many(unfortunately)kept by homeowners and/or guests. Some of these by the pics I saw were even under the 'then' 36" rule.
There has also been many deliberately killed by cutting their gills with a knife. This has been pointed out to me and others many times on Lk Tapps by homewoners. In fact, the same description has always been given to me and others as: Older brown bass boat with two bass fishermen!
Fishing is a game like many others except more responsibility is bestowed on us hunters and fishermen as we have to abide by the laws even when there is no audience. Unlike most sports. Quite a responsibility when adrenaline is rushing.
I'd like to see ALL tiger muskies returned to thrill another rather than rot in someones garden somewhere.

Agreed Mark but the few that are killed I doubt have a big impact on the overall quality of the fishery. I heard that there is some sort of infection or virus the adults can get that will kill them. Is there any truth to this?

Do they hang out in a specific area this time of year or do they roam all over the place? If they stay put I'd like to get a friend on it that has never caught one.
