Moses Lake Open: Disqualification-Idling in Canals

I have been fishing Bass Tournaments for a few years now and recieved a first time call this evening from Jeff Priester. Said he recieved a protest and call for disqualification from another team about our team idling with the big motor in canals at Moses. I didn't attend the drivers meeting and had my partner attend so I could stay with the boat. I wasn't aware of this new rule or recomendation. I just wanted to apologize and let you know we are sorry. If anyone has partner attend drivers mtg while they stay with the boat, make sure you both know what if any rules have changed. It could cost your team some $.

I also was not paying attention at the driver's meeting of the first tournament I fished and got DQ'd for violating a similar "special rule".
I didn't hear Gary say that there was an idle only area on Saturday because one of the guys that complained about you was making some funnies and cracking me up. My partner, PJ Koshi, was paying attention and told me after the driver's meeting.
It is hard for me to stay focused at driver's meetings because 98% of what they are saying I have heard 50 times. I think they should start and finish the meeting with "special rules" announcements.

I was at the meeting. I heard it and thought it was crazy. I didn't fish back there, but my heart goes out to the guys that did. Man that would suck going back there is the wind came up. The idea of guys racing to their spots on there motor guide 109's sort of cacks me up.

I agree 100% with Jeff on this. It could have happened to anyone and the fact that you stepped up and apologized and explained the situation says it all. Way to go! I know I was so jacked up that I heard about 3 words total at that meeting. LOL.

I was at the meeting...and noticed that ( just like some of the NW BAss tournaments) a lot of guys were not paying attention, whether it was from being anxious, or just assuming that the rules were the same as they always were before. As we were walking to the boats, I mentioned the " trolling motor only" part to a few guys and they didn't hear that during the meeting.

It sucks.....but it very well could have been a number of any other boats as well. It also should be a lesson to pay attention in the future.

I think it is an honest mistake and I also commend you for stepping forward with the apology and explanation. Maybe someone will learn from your mistake.

Jeff
