I'd more than happy to help out. The reason I like Goodwin in April is because it "usually" gets an earlier smallmouth spawn. It's all dependant on the weather, but on an average year, you will see smallmouth on beds in mid April. Competition with the largemouth is probably the main reason, because they do use some similar areas. My best smallmouth there in April was 5.88lbs, and that day both my dad and I had over 20lbs each. When it get's closer write me back, and I'll send you a map with specific areas.

Joel, I'm afraid I don't know what size snap I am using by its number or name, but I know it by sight. It is the 2nd smallest size. I use the smallest size (real small) on topwater poppers, then I use the next size up for most crankbaits and line sizes, and then the 3rd largest size for large and deep crankbaits for big fish (Like Norman DD22's), and I use a Berkley CrossLock Snap in 60lb test for Swimbaits. Hope this helps.

To see the correct size, when in the store look at a Luhr Jensen Hotlips or Speed Trap crankbait and it will be sold with the correct snap already installed. Match that size.
