Just an FYI. I have been asked about this here and you can now update competing cards to Navionics cards and essentially get the Navionics+ for half off. This also works if you have an old outdated card from Navionics. Contact me if you have any questions.
Here is more info:
C-MAP, Fishing Hot Spots, Garmin, LakeMaster, Lowrance Insight and NauticPath, and TrakMaps cards can now be used to activate Navionics Updates and therefore get Navionics+ at nearly half the price. For $99, you can buy a Navionics Updates card from a retailer. When it is plugged into a computer, a simple, guided procedure begins which requires you to insert a compatible chart card, either from Navionics or another brand, to unlock the new product. After completing the activation, you will have a brand new Navionics+ for nearly half the price!

So if I have an older Navionics NW premium, what will it cost me to update to a new platinum, etc so I can use it with the new HDS-9 Gen 2 I bought?
You just have to buy the $99 update card, that's it. You can buy it from TackleWarehouse and other places. Here is the link: Navionics Updates
It will become a Navionics+ which has all the features you need and is the card I use for both of my graphs (a Gen2 touch and HDS gen 1). This video explains how to do the updates process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiB9TJu9T6Q
