TRUTHS AND TAILS, BANKS LAKE REGIONAL FISHING INFO.

As I posted yesterday, Trout fishing in the area is very good!  Shore anglers at Lake roosevelt are hitting fish on orange and garlic power bait.  On Banks, a white anise mellow with a crawler seems to do better.  For those trying for Triploids on Rufas, things have been a bit slow.  Standard power bait and jigs are catching a few, try some larger spinners from shore worked stop and go during the "slack" water times.  When current is up, look for seams and eddies where fish stack up to feed.  For boat anglers chasing trout on Roosevelt, the jointed gfr color rapala is hard to beat.  Other good bets are the owner minnow in pink or purple, olive or black and red K flys or the new bingo bugs in olive, black/red,or black/org.  If Walleye are your target on Roosevelt, cover lots of water to find fish.  Sometimes they are up,(30ft) and aggressive, then boom, they drop down to 60ft, fan out and get selective.  When feeding, jig and worm or blades are doing good, when they fan out, try drop shots with gulp leeches or pwr minnows.  On Rufas for walleye current is critical!  Fish get more aggressive and set up on more classic type of structure.  If your up to it, try GPS ing a track to troll larger minnow plugs at night.  Many double digit fish came on that pattern this time last year.  Oh by the way, Coulee Playland has a great selection of Dead Eye and Gary Roach tactical walleye rods and some awesome new smaller line counter reels.  On Banks, trolling J-9 or bxmj-9 minnow plugs 6ft behind 2 ounce walkers is producing some nice eyes.  Target 25 to 45 ft, edges of points or ledges, troll, jig, blade or dropshot, let the fish dictate what they perfer.  Weather this weekend should be good, so come out and give it a try.  Just some truths and tails form lou at Coulee  PLayland.
