I've been on a streak catching old fishing line - its got to be like 6-7 trips now. Just doin my part.

Caught those freshwater clams in wawa, big sculpin on a spinnerbait yes, craws on plastics, frogs on frogs, sea anemone while soaking bait in the salt (that was hard to pull off the rock), been chased by way too many seagulls and eagles/ospreys fishing swimbaits on top.

Oh ya Dan got an umbrella pretty recently.
Had a kingfisher swoop down from a tree and grab my Senko after I tossed it out. It let go when the line when tight. A few misc. rusted out spincast rods and reels. A lawn chair once.
I hooked a goose once and broke it off. Last year there was an otter on one of my spots so I told my brother "watch this" and I fired my football head at it. Of course I let it go too far and it lands right on the other side of the thing. I feel this throb, throb and I am getting a little worried but the bait came loose without hooking it. My buddy caught a seagull, yarded it in and unhooked the jerkbait. The bird went completely docile, it was kind of wierd. My brother snagged and handlined in a tire and a big old wad of rope on Sammamish last week. There were a bunch of jigs in the rope. I took the thing and put it right in the middle of one of Mike Wolsky's secret spots. Have fun with that thing Mike.
here is my story:

we were headed to go bass fishing, but have yet to get onto the lake. previously we had a 14ft all electric jon boat, and was pretty much a car topper. eventually when push came to shove, we finally got a trailer.

i dont recall if this was our first trip with the trailer, but i believe it was my first trip with it. anyways, i always get bit by the curiosity bug, and i wanted to see if i could let the boat launch itself. so i go ahead and tie the rope to the bumper of the truck and watch it as we backup. i watch as dan backs in the boat, i slowly see the line tighten, and then bam... i see the line give slack.

OPPS!!!

my lil knot failed, and i watched the boat quickly float away. keep in mind that its pretty cold out, and its not really swimming weather [i think its fall by now], so i basically stare at my big mistake unfold. dan watches all go in slow-mo in the rear view mirror. soon after he quickly jumps into action.

like superman, he jumps out and in one fowl swoop, ties on a homemade swimbait [lol - thats another story], throws it at the boat and CATCHES our boat with a single cast.

we always wondered if the lures we made actually work, and we pretty much answered our questions that day. we caught our boat and slowly reeled it in. i actually took the time to take pictures of dan fighting the boat and wind, as he slowly pulled it in.

with no thanks to me, i would like to thank the following:
- owner for the big sharp hooks
- pline for the strong line
- okuma for the hefty rods
- shimano for awesome cranking power
without the above, i would have paid the price and gone swimming that day.

... lol and dean for having my back.
Well if we include oddball fish I caught this carp up in the Sanpoil last year. I was pre-fishing with Ron Langley and we were throwing cranks on points when I got a huge hit... The fish turned out towards the channel and nearly spooled me out. I thought maybe I had hooked a sturgeon or something, we chased this fish around with the boat for over twenty minutes (I really wanted my brand new crank bait back) turned out it was hooked in the tail... Nearly broke the net getting it in the boat, but I got my bait back...

I caught a lawn chair on Sammamish with a grub....a pair of bvd's on Hicks Lake on a carolina rig :-)
Besides the usual freshwater clams, frogs, and seagulls, the weirdest thing I probably caught was a huge rock. I was fishing the Potholes Open a few years back and thought I got bit on a football head. Well after setting the hook, I wasn't sure what the heck I had because it would come in a little and then seem to pull back on me. After probably 10 minutes or so I reel in this huge slab of rock probably 7 or 8 pounds! My jig got wedged in a crack and up she came.
Back in Michigan you'd catch snapping turtles flipping jigs in lilly pads. Most of the time we'd cut the line, occasionally if was hooked in it's foot we'd be very careful with some pliers.

Also caught a duck, seagull and almost a baby alligator in Florida.
I was watching a walleye tournament and this guy lands one around 20 inches or so. It was hooked in the mouth with the jig. The only problem was that someone had already filleted the thing.
The best "weirdest" thing I have caught was a St. Croix spinning rod and Daiwa reel. Still use the rod today, but the reel blew up in short order.

If anyone can name the lake and which rod it was, I'll gladly return it. Hint - It was in Upper Michigan!

Just how ugly is this thing???? Yes the slime is still on my carpet. notice how many scales are gone!Keith didn't mention I almost broke my net trying to lift her in.
When I was young, I was fishing Trout lake with a buddy. I had one secret lure that was working really well. There was a Canada Goose near where I was casting and I just happened to hook his wing. He took off and spooled my reel. I was using about 20 lb spider wire and wanted my lure back, so we followed him accross the lake to a yard that he had landed in. I saw my line laying in the grass, so I grabbed it and started wrapping it around my hand. We must have spooked the geese because he started to fly away. I remember looking at my hand with this spider wire wrapped around it and thinking "F^%K! I'm gonna loose my fingers!!!" He must have picked the lure out of his wings because it was laying in the grass. Thank god!

Other than that, turtles, rods, shirts, a 20 lb carp on a carolina rig (in the mouth) and a few ducks. Ducks don't fight that hard. Oh, and a little screech owl off a grass frog. And Chickens are really dumb and will bite the same lure over and over again.
