Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

If a guy was to want to get into tournament fishing as a co angler, what would be some good tourney series to take a look at getting into? I know I'm not going to be able to get the boat I want for a couple of years, but I really would like to start hitting some tourneys, and growing as an angler. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

John,

Start by joining a club. I would recommend joining a club that is a partner format if possible that way you are fishing as a team, and not also competing against your partner. it promotes a better learning/sharing experience.

Then if your club is affiliated with Washington State Bass Federation ( FLW affiliate)  or Bass Federation Nation of Washington (B.A.S.S. affiliate) you can fish their qualifiers as a co-angler also called a non-boater.  Google searches will find both federation websites. These qualifying events determine the state teams that participate in divisional series against other State's teams, with the eventual possibility of fishing the  Forrest Wood Cup or Bassmaster Classic respectively.

When you get to the point where you want some tougher competion locally, find a good partner and try NWBass or the ABA circuits.

You can find affiliate clubs on each of the Federation websites.

Good Luck,

Steve Hastings

Thanks for the reply.

I've seen alot of guys that will join clubs as a non-boater and kinda expect to have guys take them out.  You MUST be the type of person that will ask people for rides, and if you are someone who isn't a burden to the boater then you will eventually start to get more frequent boaters who approach you for their backseater.  I'm not assuming that you expect a ride when you join a club just trying to help you be successful in your endevor.
