For those of you that have external transducers that run off the bottom of your trolling motor, what is the best way you have found to run the wire down your trolling motor shaft? I have done zip-ties, electrical tape, etc. and have not found a way that is both nice looking and protects the wire from bushes/logs etc. I was watching Zona's awesome fishing show and noticed he had some type of pad that covers the wire down the trolling motor but have been unable to find anything like it.

Any ideas on the best way to protect the wire itself (I know there are plenty of contraptions that cover the transducer itself...)?

Thanks!

Don't worry about it Nick! the fish won't care how it looks! just get one with a built in Transducer next time. until then your black tape city.

I agree hamm!
Zip ties worked for me, but use something over tje wire between it and the zip tie to keep it from getting cut open. I wrapped the wire with electrical tape and then zip tied over that. Worked like a charm.
Was what you saw on a Nitro? I saw some posts on BBC about how Nitro has a sleeve for the wire, I also saw where a guy put a plastic sleeve over it to protect it.  Personnaly I have never damaged the wire and I either zip tie it or tape it, I usually tear a transducer off about once a year as well from trying to go to shallow, so I usually don't have them long enough to damage the wires.
If you use ties make sure they are radius style so they don't cut into the cable.
You could use shrink tubing.. the kind you heat up. That would protect the wire. then zip tie that or tape it.. the only time I have ever hurt a cable was when i busted a transducer off and it was loose enough that the wire hit the prop..
