Hey,I talked to jason while I was down in woodland he said the reason they dont make the xmg50 bass anymore is just because they didnt sell enough.

Yes you are a lami angler Brian and you have some awesome rods bro with lots of good ju ju on them  !!

I have never had any fustrations with lami's products , I just dont know why they stop making a top shelf bass rod !!  the certified pro's are good rods and the XMG series are ever better imo, as to why they stop making the XMG's , who knows !! Honestly that is what put me back in the market looking for a new rod , I decided to go with Dobyns after field testing about 5 of there rods over a 30day period last season , i was totally pleased with the product and the rest is history :-)

This thread is very interesting , i had know ideal that guys are using so many different rods statewide.

I guess since I now own most of Dez's old Lamiglas rods, I would be a Lamiglas guy.
G. Loomis

Pride of ownership is the difference......I am a proud owner of an American made from start to finish premium rod, built in my home state in Woodland, WA.  Or you can be the other guy....."It came from somewhere in Korea?"

Seriously though from a fishing perspective, I bet they are on par with each other, atleast they better be they cost the same.  I have no idea of how the Dobyns stack up I have not used one, but I do know how the GLX rods are I have quite a few of them.  You have to ask yourself this though, $400 can I get enough enjoyment out of this rod, seriously the more expensive rods don't make your fish bigger they just make fishing more enjoyable and easier, especially with certain techniques.

I know a GLX Flippin stick will turn you jig fishing experience upside down, way more enjoyable and way easier.  Know I can't say that a GLX drop shot rod is going to do anything with your drop shotting experience, one of my favorites is a GL2 and one other one is an off brand that cost me $60, I think these rods make my drop shotting experience easier and more enjoyable.

Good Luck......USA USA USA USA USA!

Well said jr. Made in the USA!

I agree, well said Ron.  But I am as you put it "one of the other guys" who likes Dobyns Rods. It is my choice for the tool of our trade. They are made in Korea for a US owned company.  I do believe in buying American goods and products, but when it comes to the fishing industry, it is difficult to limit yourself to the available selection, and I will bet that your rod is not made start to finish in Woodland.  Most rods, lures, reels, etc. that use premium components are outsourcing, with rods that would include guides, reel seats, thread, epoxys, and cork. I agree completely with you that pride is in ownership, and supporting local business and american made goods should be important to all of us, but many of us who want to brag about using this American made rod strap a sporty japanese or chinese made reel on it just to bring us back to the reality of the industry.  Buy US goods, support US companies...remember, at the end of the day, it's just fishing!!

I don't want to start a fire but who is loomis owned by now?

know i buy a boyd duckett rod and they are great and the price really good.

Totally true Phil, I was just stirring the pot a bit, like I said both products are on par with each other, to the extent that one is owned by the Japanese and made in the US, the other is owned by an American and made in Korea.  Which one is better is all up to the user, the great thing is that there is another great "real" bass rod company which will help push the industry in bigger and better directions.
