Hit up Tapps this afternoon(March 19th)

Had plans for Mayfield but due to random acts of "Whatevuh" I had to bank it at Tapps.

I don't care much for shore fishing at Tapps, not much in options of access and the musky fishing isn't typically all that great. But I was just anxious to get out and play/adjust the gear. As dumb luck would have it. I casted to a fairly decent area that had a collection of downed trees and stumps and caught my first tiger musky of 2011. Granted,it was only 30 inches but I'll take it. A few minutes later and I hooked a second tiger but she came unbuttoned, she was pretty small too. Nothing to brag about but still an awesome day. I wish I could give a water temp but I left my little tin can boat at Lake Kapowsin.

The water level is very low,it might be possible to drop in there but be very careful.

Maybe it was the full moon that had the tigers active...I don't know but these questions will keep running through my head for a bit.

I was using a Ducktail Lures Muskything

Sweet! Nice fish, spend most of today at Cabela's, "Spring Outdoors Days" weekend. There were some excellent speakers there today. And I am looking for a new boat, jon type 14 foot or so, got to be a good electric powered bass boat and duck hunting boat.

We are going to talk about a CMA, Pond Jumperz fishing event at our next meeting.

Took a look at Tapps today, still real low but they just started raising it today. Gonna fish it sunday for a few hours in the morning after work then head out Bassin'. Mike.

Hey Mark, thanks, certainly looking forward to fishing with you folks. We'll have to get together this year on the bass hunt.

I went back up there today, the water has gone up a foot in the last 24 hours. I'm terrible at math but

figure the total with the acres of the lake= um,...my nose is bleeding and thats a ton of water flowing in.

Fished for about an hour but nothing, didn't see anything but branches blowing around.

Were you able to get out Mike?

Got a big smallie around 5 pounds on a glide bait, saw 1 muskie roll. May put the boat in friday.
Is it currently possible to launch a 21' boat at Tapps?  Is the only available public launch at Allen Yorke?

Last week I would have said no go at the launch but the water is slowly rising. Todd was up there yesterday(Allen Yorke) maybe he can jump in later provide some better info on the water level there.

At this time,Allen Yorke is the only open public launch, not sure when North Tapps will be going but should be very soon.

Tapps is up almost 2 feet since last Sunday...really...went up there Wednesday. Fished up by Dike 12 with my daughter..Windy and cold. Lake is filling up. Couple weeks..be good to go. I beleive the North Tapps launch opens on Friday..yahooo! Remember your licenses expire on the 31st of March. Unless you already purchased your 2011 license..was going to head up tomorrow after my Union meeting..maybe..lol

Hit Tapps today after my Inspirational Union meeting.

The fishing was well, fishing. Lake is definatley up about 2 feet as I stated yesterday. Shorefishing definatley SUCKS! May break the boat out sometime after work this week. No problem being able to launch now at Allen York ..water looks good all around the lake. The East side will probably be last to get covered..very fishable..see ya, Todd

Hit up Tapps for a couple hours today, nothing to exciting. No hookups...didn't even see a fish of any kind.

Might have done better if I attached a $100 bill to a trailer hook. Did have a mini hurricane show up

and flipped the lake over a few times. Lake level has gone up several feet, near full. Shouldn't be much longer now.

Back at it again yesterday with Todd. Tried a variety of lures but mostly worked the "Half Dead" tube

to become a bit more familiar with it. Got one soild bite. We also found a dead 47incher near Driftwood Point. Back at it again soon, water is rising nicely

Gave Tapps a whack today with Kevin. Noon till 6:30. We each had a follow a piece. Small fish. Threw swim baits, tube baits and some other hardware in the box. Water temp topped out at 47 degrees. Never felt the 55 degree temp prediction nor the sun..oh well. Summer begins in June..yipee..T.
