Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

There are lots of baits I have never caught a fish on (shocking I know). Usually it is from lack of time invested in throwing them. This year I have already caught fish on two popular baits I never used much before and am determined to catch some fish on a buzzbait (had a blowup on one once) and a frog (never even had a blowup).
Are there any baits or techniques you guys are determined to add to your arsenal this year?

I've been throwing the king craw around and haven't gotten anything yet. I'll keep one tied on just for the homerun.
Hair jigs for me.
You might be a jig fishing expert Eric, but you still holding those fish like a little girl, seems like you don't catch to many of those things, huh. What are the fish to "icky" to really get ahold of, promise dude they won't bite.

I guess you didn't hear Chris, I am practically an expert on jig fishing now, hee hee. I caught 4 last Friday including that 8-2. I never fished them much before this year. Same with rattle traps but I got a decent SM on one of those last week too.
You ever use buzzbaits pre-spawn?

Man, if buzzbaits were illegal I'd give up fishing. What about a jig Eric, I heard you aren't too lucky with jigs for LM ?
I need to use more crankbaits, I've been on hold for a few years when it comes to cranks.
Nope wasn't a frog that caught that toad. We were in the same bay as them, they were pitching jigs into heavy brush when she smacked it. We were about 100yds away when she got it. The frustrating thing about it was we had fished that brush 30mins earlier. Timing is everything.

I agree with you Eric. I have not spent much time with a buzzbait or a frog either. Looking forward to throwing both this year. If I am not mistaken, the big fish of the Potholes open was caught using a frog. I believe that is what the lady said who caught it.

I am also wanting to learn more about drop shotting. Not so much the technique itself, but more about what plastics to use to be most productive. Any body have any tips they would like to share, I would appreciate it.
I got a lil guy on Moses with one tho, thx for the rod Mark ;). Beat the May mark lol.

My goal for this year is to gain experience and confidence with swim baits, I have yet to catch a fish on one and need to devote some time to working on the technique. I also intend to put more time into spinnerbaits.
For me, my top 3 never producers are jigs, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits. Surprising but true. If I didn't dreak my ankle last season, I think I would have gotten my first jig bass. My fishing opportuinities will be extremely limited this season, but I will focus on getting my first jig bass.
