The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Out Sat. in the beutiful sun, Water is 5 foot low and 54 AM and 60 PM. A few fish up shallow acting like they are in shock. All the ones I saw were crusing very slow. Managed to get a 40" on a crank bait and a 36" on a fly. Also had another on a fly about 40" but I didn,t get the hook stuck deep enough.(hey Todd can you figure out what's in that fishes mouth?)

HI Ed,

I've been flyfishing for tigers on Mayfield for a few years now and my success is not very good like one or two a year. What depth are the fish most likley taking the fly. Is there a spieces of fish that your fly imitates?

Thanks,

Mike

For the most part Muskies up shallow are ready to eat or gettig ready to eat. I have been using a sinking tip line but the fly usually is only 3-4 feet mostly because I don't try to kill myslf with long cast. Mayfield is a tough lake due to the flushing of cold water that goes on there constantly but there is a bunch of fish there. I have seen some real "toads" there. Just yesterday I started making a couple of weedless flies just for that lake. Here is a picture of some of the flies I make.

I fished Mayfield last Friday with  a friend and we both had fish on for long enough to say they were on. Had two fallows and seen last count was 15. My flys are black and red or black with a little yellow and they are about 12 inches long. Black rabbit that is about 3 to 4 inches works.

What do think about the charteuse does that color get good respones?

NIce looking ties! What is the long flash material?
I can't remember right now what my body fibers are called I will have to let you know later. I have also tied up different colors but Trout and Squaws are on the menu so white and flash are my main color.
