Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

The banks lake open is coming up this weekend, the day after northwest bass. Chad and I fished it last year and had a good time and it was run really well by Tom and the crew. We're looking forward to doing it again this year, who else is sticking around for Sunday?

I'm guessing it takes 13.5lbs to win the open after the fish get worked over day one.

JD ,

My partner and i might be hanging around for it , Also considering going too Chelan instead..See ya at banks

Jordan, I think that is a pretty good guess on the weight.  After we harass all those fish on Saturday, the weights should be quite a bit lower.   I won't be able to fish it, but I will be on the lake with my dad that day.  He is a little too layed back for tournament fishing, so it's just fun time for us.  I am staying over for a few day after NW, and get some quality time with the old man!  Looking foward to it for sure.
Hopefully the water level isn't too low!
According to the info I was reading earlier, they plan on having it at 7' below full pool on Aug.15th.  This also said that normal lake level is 5' below full pool, so 2' lower than normal.  Who knows if this is going to be accurate or not.  I guess the levels were way up last week, so maybe it will be about normal for us.  I hope so anyways.
Here's some more information on the drawdown: http://couleeplayland.com/drawdown.htm

What won the open? How many boats etc?

I was down on the very south end fishing with my dad and brother-in-law on Sunday and didn't see any boats.  What was the turn out?  Go figure, I stuck 4 3/4 lb. smallie, my biggest ever at Banks.  I could have used that on Saturday!  LOL.

You did?  Thats a whale dude!  Unreal, lol.   If I ever caught a fish over 4 at Banks in the tournament I'd come unglued...lol

I know, I couldn't believe it.  I lipped her and looked at my dad and said "WTF!!!"  I think my biggest smallmouth there before was probably only 3.5 lbs or so.

Thats awesome man!  Last 2 tournaments I fished there, LM over 5 were weighed. I caught a 4'10oz one day and Mcmannis caught a 3'9 smally the same day, of course practicing, but it shows you they're there! In the spring tournament we had 3 LM that were all right under 4 which was an amazing feeling but usually I can't buy a big bite in a tournament there! If you don't mind me asking, you catch that 4.75 deep or shallow?   Good work again on that smallmouth, never seen one even weighed in that big! Mcmannis/Gemmil had a 4.54 I think last Spring which was a unicorn in itself.

I got it in 20' of water, right at the edge of a good drop off that went to 40' or so.
