Any predictions on how much weight it will take to pull of the win > ?   Im thinking 16.50 lbs

So you take the cowling off your boat engine to put the banner on? I didn't think so. So I should be able pull mine over the hood the best I can.

Would said trolling be similar to "dragging"?

I don't plan on fishing from my vehicle anyway. I have made friends with a ton of home owners on the lake. I will fish from docks and shoreline only.

If there is written rule that says I must fish from a boat, then I guess I will not be able to enter. Could I get a copy of the rule? I probably should have asked for those first. I think people are not taking me serious.

The rules say that your contest banner must be Around your engine and visible. So, you are going to have to remove your fenders and Hood. Also, make sure your life vest is buckled before you start your engine. You will also need to rig a working kill switch in case you fly out of your vehicle at speed. (We can only hope.) Trolling is illegal, so I don't want to catch you driving back and forth across the bridges with a rod out your window.

Livewell checks will be at the end of the dock prior to blast off. You are going to have to find a creative way of floating your 15 foot bus past me so I can make sure you arnt cheating.

Good luck with all that.

I just finished my cooler livewell set up in the backy car and am ready to put it to use. Thanks to the legal input from others on this site, I realized I needed to be entered in a tournament to transport live fish. I plan to use this event as my first trial.I plan on entering alone.

As far as a tournament ribbon, will that need to be on my vehicle? Or does it stay with me? I intend to park as close to docks/shorline as I can, but may not be within eye sight of the vehicle at all times.

Also I imagine everyone takes off at the same time in the morning. Thats how we did it back home. Will I be required to be standing near the dock, or can I sit in my vehicle and listen for the starting whistle? I ask this because I do not plan on starting at coulon.

Really looking forward to this. I think you guys are in for a suprise. In fact, I predict I will win.
Dez I know you mean allot more community holes for you to fish, trust after a couple years the lake will fish small again due to the fact on any certain lake most of the time the tourney is, these become community, plus I've never seen you fish anywhere that isn't a well known spot. Trust me in this tourney there will be boats stacked up in certain areas, especially id the wind is stronger than 10 miles poper hour.

I like the change to washington personally  , I bet this change will attract new anglers imo .

Sammy is a fun lake to fish early season but once you have more than 15 boats out there it becomes a much different lake . Washington on the other hand has a lot more water and spots to cover over 8hrs of fishing ..Good Call Hawghunters :)

Thanks for kind words Jr , I really do put a lot of pride in fishing community holes on lake washington .

Im getting really good at fishing those honey holes jr , remember how close we came to beating you and wolsky last year at NWbass (payback coming in 2012) :)

The problem with lk sammy is that it only offers about 7-8 community holes period and if your not one the first 8 boats out during blast off you will most likely have a tuff day IMO .

another thing about lk washington that i really  like is that it puts both you & wolsky are on a even playing field IMHO.

Stop fussing about  the change and just bring your A game bro ,this event should be a easy win for an ex FLW tour angler like yourself :)  See ya at the scales

I'm thinking whatever is in our livewell!

Wow,the poop is already flying!. I am looking forward to this tournament and think change is good sometimes. Im just happy to be able to go fishin and see some friends. Thats what its all about ,right?Im sure im wrong in my opinion some how with all of them floating around on this site. Hope everyone comes out ,and yes the launch is spendy but what the hell!

Im gonna go alittle lower then Dez and say 14.35lbs to win . With a big fish over 4lbs,in my boat i hope. Im hopeing its a better turnout then last year with only 14 boats .

Just come out and have fun and let your fishin do the talkin. See ya!

I'm guessing 15.5 to win and 4.75 on the big fish. That lake has plenty of fish that size. I hope to see some pigs at the scale. I really want to see all the boats bring fish in. Good luck to everyone!
Why don't you fish it cliffy poo? You know the lake.

Sorry Dez, I just think guys think that Sammamish only has a few spots, found a new one at the Freeze and caught 2 of are 3 fish off it.

I am not bitter at the move, just kind of bumbed, I have looked foward to fishing this event for the past 9 years or so, I think I have missed only one, It is the one tourney that I make sure I fish every year.  I agree it is exciting to fish Washington, it is something never done before.  I am gonna have to do some work if I think I am going to go out there and win because I haven't fished Washington in years in March, and at that only a couple times.  It will be interesting to say the least.

I think after a few years of it being on Washington, guys will feel the same as they do about Sammamish and crowding issues, this is always the case during a tourney, since it seems that the best populations of larger fish are in certain parts of the lake, East channel South (mercer island, coleman pt.), mid east channel (I-90 pleasure pt.) Northeast (Hunts Pt. Yarrow Pt. Etc) and Northwest ( Ship canal, union bay and the Pt. outside it I cant remember the name right now) You will see a trend of were the best fish are traditional going to come from and everyone will be there.  It is just the way of tournaments.  All these years guys have had their spots to themselves because there aren't any tournies, so not to many boats on the lake, but that is not to say that no one else fishes the same spot, put guys on the water all at once that know the lake and you will see more than you knows these spots you usually have to yourself.

Enough said, I am excited to fish something new, lots to learn, I am also excited because I am pretty sure that my dad is dusting off the rods and boat and we are gonna give some of these Lake Washington homebodies a run for there money.......maybe....like I said very little knowledge this time of year.

For sure man, my dad is my #1 fan, my #1 role model, and my best friend.

I was blessed with the father that I have, he is everything you could ask for in a father, stearn, loving, supportive and much more, I just hope I can be the same kind of father for my two boys.

We don't get to fish as much as we use to but everytime we do get to go together it is always a great time, and has made for some very memorable moments!

In case anyone is actually wondering about the rules, here is a link to them:

In case anyone is really concerned with why there was a change from the traditional Lake Samamish Open, we did unfortunately only get 14 boats last year.  If you look back at early 2011, there were 4 tournaments on the lake in roughly a two month period.  For about 15 years, the Lake Samamish open was the first tournament of the year.  That was the draw.  But, now there is another good tournament with a great draw in the $1000 big fish pot that leads the year on the same lake.  With ABA on Samamish last year, and then the Berkley open, the Samamish Open lost it's apeal.  Guys chose to fish the Freeze Your Bass because of the big fish pot and early date, the ABA event because of the circuit, and the Berkley because of the low entry fee and the huge sponsor attached.  I don't blame any of those events for the low turnout at the Samamish open.  I blame the lack of anything interesting about the tournament to create a draw for anglers.

It was time to rethink the idea.  The tournament is a good tournament.  It's a pure, simple open with good competition and a friendly atmosphere.  But watching the talk on here last year, it was obvious that many guys didn't like Lake Samamish.  It can be tough.  So many guys called for a change of venue to Washington for any of the early tournaments, that it was obvious what change was needed to bring back the participation that the tournament once had.  Personally, I am excited for the change.  Lots of guys like Lake Washington.  I am really interested to see what kind of competition there will be.  Washington has the potential for bigger fish and more total fish caught.  Plus, it's not a merry-go-round of 7 or 8 spots.  I'm no expert on the lake, but I can think of close to 20 areas that can hold fish this time of year.  Even though I think 15 to 16 pounds might win it, I wouldn't be shocked if a team brought in a 20 pound bag.  The potential is there.

In October, The Bob Mickleson Open brought 32 boats.  It was a great success.  14.67 won, and a 5.99 big fish was weighed.  30 out of 32 boats brought in fish. Just over a pound separated the top 3 boats.  $1769 was paid to the winners.  I think this will be a better tournament than that.  Washington is tough during turnover.  The competition for this tournament could be awesome.
