Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

First of all I want to make it clear that the modern bass fisherman's arsenal of electronics, maps, high tech rods and reels, specialty lines, an amazing selection of baits, etc. definitely contribute to our bass catching success. However we often don't give credit to the most powerful fish catching tool at our disposal....our hat!

Like most of you I own a bewildering assortment of hats and caps. Some of them like my old Stetson that was given to me by a fishing buddy in the 70's possess great fish catching juju. I also have caps that almost always catch bass....with a little help from me, others with only modest success and still others that couldn't catch a fish in a trout pond. These should be worn while shopping, mowing the lawn, etc. but never taken anywhere near a boat.

Years ago my wife gave me a nice cowboy hat. It couldn't catch a fish for me and cast such bad luck that my fishing companions went fishless too. It blew of my head one day and was allowed to drown. Do yourself a favor, wear the right hat and your bass fishing success will skyrocket. May be illegal in some tournaments,

I would have to agree with this. I have also found this to hold true for shirts. I used to have one shirt that would catch me fish all day long. On the front it said "Here fishy, fishy, fishy..."

Can we see a picture of this lucky hat? Just sayin!

Upper right photo in this collage, with some other lucky caps as well.

Right arm! I like the stetson! What is the hook up average with ballcap vs the stetson?

About two to one but it can be awful hot in the summertime!

Nice Hat!

My dad used to keep about seven hats in the boat at all times. If he would go a while without catching fish, he would switch them.

Never thought of that!

I new i shouldnt have worn that dang cabelas hat at pot holes last saturday! i couldnt find my seratella..... ugh....

I actually have a Cabelas hat that's quite lucky. Visited the original store in Sydney, Nebraska about 12 years ago. First Cabelas I had seen. Walked around taking pictures for an hour. Only thing I bought was that hat!

I thought we were headed down the hellgramite path again for a second....
