Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Hey everyone, I have been getting enough contacts saying that they want to fish this tournament that I have no choice but to make sure that it happens.  Because of the issues that we had with preparation, there are going to be some simplified procedures.

Entry Fee:  $100 cash only on the morning of the tournament.  We will only take cash so that we can pay out cash.  NO CHECKS! NO EXCEPTIONS!

There will be no option pot, but there will be a $20 big fish pot.  It will pay to the one single big fish.

We will pay on a 1-5 scale and there will be an 80% payback.

HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NEW RULE:
YOU MUST BRING 2 TOYS PER TEAM: YOU WILL RECIEVE A 2 POUND PENALTY PER TOY MISSING!!!!  SO, 1 toy equals 2 pound penalty, 0 toys receives a 4 pound penalty!  IT WILL BE ENFORCED!

I would love to see good toys too.  That's why we are doing this.  The toys will be delivered to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital on Christmas eve.  The remaining 20% of the entry fees will be used to purchase more toys!  Since we will not be holding a raffle, we have decided that donating a small amount of money, like 200-300 dollars is going to have a lot less impact than as many toys as we can fit in the back of an extended cab truck!

I don't want guys to expect much of a production.  We wont be having a raffle or food or anything like that.  It's gonna look like a club tournament.  In fact, I'm gonna fish it and direct.

SIgn up will be from 5:30 am to 6:55, with drivers meeting at 7:00 am.  Blast off will be at safe light and weigh in at 3;00 pm.  Livewell inspections will be happening at time of sign-ins.  Please show up on time and be ready!

I hope to see you all there!  Thanks to everyone who has pushed for this.  It's a worth while cause.  I cant think of anything more important than bringing a smile to the face of a sick kid!

Is there a wish list or do you have suggestions for toys?

Hey Jeff ,no wish list just bring somethin you think the kids would enjoy!

This post says there will be a penalty if you don't bring 2 toys. The Hawg Hunters website says if you bring 2 toys, you will get a 4lb bonus! Which is true? Will this penalty/bonus be enforced on your big fish, or your bag? What if your bag only consists of one fish?
It will be on your total weight. Either way, maths the same in the end.
Math is math, but my chances of catching 24lbs is greater when 4lbs is added to 20lbs! Great marketing strategy "I'm sure by accident" on your part! Might as well make it a 10lb bonus, so I can tell my grand kids how I caught 30lbs in another 20 years. Might as well add the 10lbs to the big fish as well.
In all honesty, this is for a good cause, and I hope to attend. My sister in law, and another good friend work at Mary Bridge. I've spent my share of time there with all of my kids. Luckily they were all short visits. Many families aren't as fortunate. Mary Bridge is world renown for their services. We are fortante to have them in our community, and I commend the Hawg-Hunters for their ongoing partnership. Since the wish list link is broken on your website, can you provide an example of toys that kids have been excited to receive in the past? />

You can add whatever you would like to your weight after the trophys are handed out.

Proper toys would be things like games, dolls, puzzles, stuffed animals, creative building toys like legos, toy figures, ect ...
Anything that would be appropriate fot a boy or girl for indoor use from ages 3-13ish. The hospital frowns on toys that promote violence: no guns.

The results may be the same but the math is not! You should do the math before you claim it is the same.

(10)-(10-4)=?
10-6=bring toys

(10+4)-(10)=?
14-10=bring toys

So bring toys!!!

Dana, I know! The world we live in has gone to the hippys! Did you hear about the school in New York that banned tag, baseballs and footballs at recess because kids could get hurt? People are idiots.

Remember guys,2 toys per boat and CASH only in the morning no exceptions. See ya tomorrow!

I heard Tony Lo took it down for the second year in a row with almost 17lbs. Any official results???

I could have gone without the reminder.......thanks! In all seriousness it was for a great cause, I got to fish with my sister, and the weather wasn't terrible. I wont dwell on this one. Congrats to the teams that did well! What was the ticket? We caught tons of nice perch 11"-13", tons of nice rock bass 10"-13", and a lot of little smallmouth. Lost a big smallmouth right at the net, and had a largie close to 5lbs nosing on my jig. The largemouth didn't really want to play. A lot of really nice brown bags were weighed in! The last time I fished this one, 12lbs was a money bag.
