I don't want to poop in anyone's oatmeal, but you take a westsider and put him on call shy birds, and introduce a 1 box limit, and what do they do.... they head to potholes and the Columbia River to hunt. When the easide birds get call shy, they hunt "the salt" for the really smart birds.
Don't even get me started on the birkenstocks they slide into after they get out of their caddis breathables.
You can trailer your sled over the pass, but you just can't rank the professionals with the amateurs.
And when did a boat cert supercede AOY as "the title". I think you guys are are using the term "title" too literally. The real one is sitting on Jeff McBrooms mantle. Frankly, Ron Mace probably woulda won the boat at Banks if he had the driveway space.
"Your best five vs our best five"? Does the westside not have 6 good teams?
You say tomato, I say taaamato.....
Glad you're using baseball references versus football. Thinking man's game.
Young Jake, you don't actually have to find space to park a boat when you win one. They give you a certificate. Mace and McConville had plenty of space to park another boat. I don't know if there's been a team that's won both championships when the venues are different. I know Hogue bagged 3 boats in two years, but all were on the river. Still impressive, but the team with the ability to switch gears and win on Banks after the river... hasn't developed yet.... yet. I believe we're fishing against that team, just not sure who it is yet.

P.S. Hobbs for President.

Looks like it Ron. I was surprised as well to see on Banks again.
To clarify Hobbs, I was talking about the ability to win one on the river, and two weeks later on Banks. I think the mental aspect and time restriction makes that very tough. I know for us, when we get whooped at the first event, we go into the next one with tons of motivation.
That said, Abbott and Flowers are the only team I can remember that has won a championship on both bodies of water. Those guys are baddasses, and very high on my list of anglers who could pull off the back to back championships.
As for permits, Gary said we're going back to Banks in 2015. I also know that Angie Dover wants to put us on Banks as well for ABA. Gary's final qualifier permit is Banks in August, which would make a 3 event run for the two circuit guys. I hope that doesn't happen. There's too many great fisheries around here to be fishing Banks for 2 months. I like Banks, but in small doses.

Hey guys. This is a rare take it to a public forum, Stiles, Wa-fish comment.
Don't be to quick to comment or to be concerned. Many things can change in the course of the off season. Look at Potholes, Moses, the River, CDA, Boardman? What about splitting the championship between Banks and Roosevelt? What about doing the same with Potholes and Moses? I am tired of the same old stuff. Case in point, our opener at Potholes. If that's not deviation from the norm then what is? Nothing is ever cast in stone. Annnd a championship is not the measure of a successful season for a circuit or a team of anglers.

Stiles,
I wasn't complaining at all about your schedule. Personally, I think one in early August and the Championship on late September is fine. For selfish reasons, my wife and kids love attending the September Championship on Banks, and that makes the whole weekend more enjoyable for me. My comments on location really revolved around ABA moving up to Banks. I know we all have opinions, and being a tournament director isn't easy, so I apologize if I stirred the pot.
I know Angie has teams complaining about the River, and teams who say they'll fish next year if she moves the event to Banks. I think, that's trading one group of anglers for another. Anglers who aren't fishing because they don't like where the championship is located, really shouldn't be considered a 100% sure thing IF a change is made. Usually teams don't fish for multiple reasons, but the one they focus on in conversation is just the highest one on their list. Money, kids, time etc... are all priorities that affect the overall decision to fish or not.
As for Stiles circuit, I don't want to fish Lake Washington, but I'm going. It hit me on Monday morning, fishing Northwest Bass has put us in a situation I would have never imagined.... We're one tournament away from the Bassmaster Classic. Even though it's a long shot, it's pretty hard to take lightly. Thanks Stilen.

P.S. I mean no offense to any team who is/isn't fishing, or does/doesn't like certain bodies of water. I really think managing the needs of life, and tournament fishing aren't close in the priority scheme. I am also very grateful for Angie Dover and her desire to accommodate anglers. I know it's a challenge.
Jake,
As always--you are too cool! Your comments relative to being grateful for Angie are spot on! Angie, Henry and yes Jack played a large role in making this NWB season fun and manageable.
Now with the exception of some last minute award issues, the rewrite of some rules that haunt me, dealing with you and Jay-Bry, and making reservations for Arkansas in December; I am going to call it a season and go dark for a while.
One last thing before I do and taking it back to the original thread subject matter---Well Done Mike and Jr.!!!!!
Stilen--out--(I hope its possible)
