Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I am headed to Lake Powell in 3 weeks and was wondering if anyone has fished it before? Any tips would be awesome. I have done some research online but not a lot of help. If only they had a UTFISH.COM! lol. Hint hint Jordan!

That place is unbelievable and the striper fishing can be awesome. Gonna be hot to say the least. Where you putting in at?
I've been there twice, both times out of Bullfrog. Also both times in April. It was fantastic and theres seemed to always be a good jerk bait stripper bite. Found most largies in the backs of most fingers that are in the canyons, and in and around sunken tamarac.
Larry,

I know a guy who got bit by a stripper once. It took a shot of penicillin to get him back to normal. My suggestion to the guy who is going to Lake Powell would be to have fun with the strippers but get out of there if they start biting you.

Are you sure he said stripper and not striper?

Cride,
Call after 6pm at 253 632 0105 and I can turn you on to a great guide for striper fishing.
Larry,

C-ride never even mentioned striper's at all or wanting to catch them. Nolliver was the one that brought up striper's and then you added your thoughts about jerkbaits and stripper's.
Personally I have never met a stripper that gave a crap about jerkbaits but I know for certain you would not want to get bitten by one.

It's true he said that.

C-Ride,

You are in Yamamoto country, there (their plant is in Page). Make a post on Yamamoto's forum and you will probably get all the information or contacts you need.

I have fished it several times when visiting Yamamoto for writer's conferences. The smallie bite is awesome, and you just can't beat a dropshot rig. Also be sure to use a single tail Yamamoto grub (4") on either a 1/4 oz football or ball jig and 6-pound line. Topwaters are a good bet (like a Sammy) or a Sugoi Splash (dynamite)! The largemouths are in the back of coves, but the best populations are a long ride away from Bullfrog. Stripers are all over, and in between striper bites move in to the shallow rocks and fish for smallies.

Be sure to visit Stix tackle shop in Page. Get your license, tackle, and the best fishing info there. They have everything you need: http://www.stixbaitandtackle.com/

ciao,
Marc
Looks like I'd better watch my spelling around here, just offering a tip, if the largies and smallies are a little tough, a black and white Spro kept the action going all day.
Strippers, Stripers, either way I'll have fun! I have never hooked into a striper. Can't wait. Thanks for all the info guys. I will post some pics when I get back. And I am going to check out the Yamamoto plant for sure. Didn't know that it was in that area. I guess some dude just caught a record Crappie there last month( 3.5 lbs). Holy crap!
Hey C, give me a call. I grew up fishing that lake. Depends on what end of the lake your fishing. It's alot different from end to end.
