I have been thinking about buying a new bass boat and am considering a Stratos 294. I talked to Dan at Valley Marine and he has three in stock and would sell me one for $25k. Any thoughts on the Stratos 294?

I heard stratos have kind of a rough ride. I have heard good things about the new hull though. Take it for a test drive and if it fits you get it.
I think the new bassmaster said a basscat saber with a 150 was about 25K. Jon is right, you can get plenty brand new boats in that price range so check them all out.
Good advice, thanks. But I guess I should add that these boats are 19 1/2 feet and have Yamaha 200 HPDI's on them. That is why I am looking at them so hard. They are not an 18 footer with a 150 on them.

Going over on Tuesday to drive one.
Jerry,

25 K for a 19-6 with 200 hpdis thats cheap. I have a 19-8 Pheonix coming in with a 200 Yamaha SHO thats no where near that price. The HPDI's in the 200-250 are no longer being made, so that is why the price might be so cheap.

Not to hijack this thread or anything...but a Phoenix?? Is there a Washington State dealer? From seeing them on their website I am really impressed with their out of the box thinking.
Yes there is a dealer starting up this/next month.

I know of at least four people who had Stratos boats, and there next boats were not Stratos boats! Everything I've heard about the HPDI says stay away from that motor also!
i too looked at the 294, before deciding to wait the economy out. from what i've researched it is a nice boat for the money. extremely fast, but they do chine walk like a mother. Also when i saw one first hand at the expo last year they are very narrow up front compared to say the zx200. I really like the looks of the boat and for 25k it would be worth considering since they normally sell for 32-34ish. check out bbc for some more info.

I don't know if Chad counted me as one of the four but I am definitely in that category. I had a 20SS Extreme with a Evinrude 225 on it for several years. I didn't like the boat or the motor all that much.

I have a Triton now and it is faster, handles better, fishes better, and handles rough water way better.

But it was about twice the price also....

The boats you are looking at at Conrath's are 2008 boats. Thats why they are so cheap. They have had all three 294's sitting on the lot for about 2 years now and are desprate to move them. I was actually looking at buying the silver one this time last year. At that time, they where willing to go down to $27k. So, at $25k, it's a good deal, but it is a pretty basic boat as far as finish and features. Did you see the 2007 ZX225 at Nixon's right now? I think it's also about $25k, and is going to ride better and have alot better finish. I was told it's a pro-returned boat, which means it was on a tour, sent back to Skeeter, and refurbished to near new condition. Might be something to look at if that's what your budget is.

Thank you for all the input. I went and drove one this past week and it drove nice. It did walk a little but no worse than my buddies Triton does. I am going to buy it because I don't think I can buy a better boat for the money. And I realyl liked the way I was treated by the staff at Valley Marine. They were not pushy and even showed me boats that cost less. I would highly recomend that anyone who is looking for a new boat go and see them.

See you on the water. Finaly!
Awesome! Congrats! Which one did you get, blue, red or silver?
