2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad cab
5.9L turbo Cummins
Super Chips flash paq
Challenger 45 turbo
Banks Mega Intercooler
Banks highrise intake manifold
Banks intercooler speed tubes
5 inch silverline(Turbo back) exhaust
Cat delete
50 shot injectors
High flow fuel lift pump
Southbend OFE Clutch Kit
Valant Cold Air Intake
I get 22 mpg all day long with no trailer. 18 MPG Pulling boat at 70 mph+
Over 500hp and 1000 ft lbs torque with 18-22 mpg!
Manual trans gets you a couple of mpg.
Its a fun truck. You can blow the doors off the Rice burners and pull you boat! It doesn't get any better than that. All you gotta do is help em breath and they will get the milage.
The only thing I worry about is pulling the damn hitch off the frame. I have a little bit of a lead foot : )
AMEN TO THAT!!!

I run a Chevy Sub. 8.1litre. i bought it so I can tow any customers boats, show boats, (mostly 21-22') and go into any lake I want.
CUMMINS...ENOUGH SAID!
2002 Dodge 1500 QC - stock motor, 2 inch level kit in the front. Pulls my old 1980 Campion powered by a 1970 85hp Johnson. Wish it was Diesel but it does the job for the boat Im pullin. Im lucky if I get 10-12 towing.
2006 Dodge 2500 w/ 5.9L cummins.
No modifications to the engine.
20mpg hwy not towing a boat doing 70mph.
16mph towing a 2007 Nitro 911 cdc. Big heavy boat.

The 5.9 cummins is bullet proof, wish they would have left it alone.

Mark
2004 Dodge Grand Caravan

Okay so am not pulling boats likes everyone else but it gets my 11.3 Basstender in and out of the water ... LOL.
My 2008 Ford F-350 Crew Cab only gets about 10.5mpg, according to it's own calculations, whether I'm towing or not. It's kind of lame.
Mark is 100% right about the good ole 5.9L. The new 6.7L diesel is a pile of crap. Take it from me guys, if you buy a 6.7L you are gonna be pissed off. It will break down and gets very poor milage. 12 mpg without a boat in tow. I work for Dodge and have for 9 years as a service mgr/advisor. I almost never have to do repairs to the 5.9L Cummins. Only when Dumb asses like myself pump them up to 500 hp, then they break....
It sucks having all the guys with 6.7L Cummins chewing my ass all the time when they have to bring em in with issues all the time. Most of them had been spoiled by the reliability of the 5.9L. The problem is that Ford, Chevy and Dodge are all having the same issues. Chevy least of all. It is all related to the EPA requiring emission components on the Diesel engines. They are not designed to have this stuff on them, so they clog up. It is going to be very hard for them to figure out how to make that much power and make them run clean. They did the same thing with the cars in the early 70's. EPA said that we need cars that get good mpg and low smog. So you got all those ugly, weak engines that didn't last in the 70's-80's. It has taken this long to get the engineers to make an engine that gets (ok) mileage and lots of power. I think we are going to go through the same thing on the Diesels...

It is pretty frustrating. I still own a 2003 Ford F-350 CrewCab with the 6.1 liter Diesel and it is a piece of crap. I had to put like 5k into it this year just to keep it running and I know two other guys with this motor that are having the same exact problems. They are junk, so beware if you think you found a good deal on a used truck.

1995 Chevy 2500 Long Bed w/Big Canopy 4X4
6.5L Turbo Diesel (160K Miles)
5 Speed Manual Trans

Mods
-2inch Superlift
-Air-Ride Suspension
-PMD Relocated
-Ford Intercooler
-Chipped
-Exhaust (Partial, about 50% done)
-Cold Air Intake
-Manual Wastegate
-4.10 geared rear end (SUCKS for gas mileage, but great for power. Looking for a lower set)

15-19 MPG depending on how I drive. Towing I get 15-17 at 60mph pulling the Legend Alpha 199. With the rear end my truck has, if I get up over 60mph, the mileage drops exponentially.
I've got a 01 dodge ram 3500... yea 5.9, 5 speed... with edge comp box , 4" exhaust and BHAF... 4:10 gears so it will pull the house if i wanted...but after 60 mph the fuel mileage suffers... 16 to 18 mpg loaded empty i get 18 to 20 as long as i keep it under 60... with what ever i decide to haul... weight is NOT an issue... she has wide hips, and loves to smoke...
