Just wondering how many rods you guys usually have in the boat while fishing. What are they? Action, lenth. etc. What are you favorite?

I usually have 10-12 rods during tournaments and pre-fish. If I'm just out practicing, I'll have 4-6 rods to work on specific techniques (so I'm not tempted by all of the other possibilities!). I generally choose rods between the 6.5-7 foot range. Recently companies have came out with whole lines 6'8" rods and those are great. I prefer glass rods for cranking/reaction bait fishing, and shorter rods for flipping/pitching (kind of opposite). My favorite rods are without a doubt Dobyn's rods: they're built for bass fishing. For power fishing and jig fishing, IMHO nothing really compares. However, as far as dropshot rods go, I enjoy using the Shimano Calais (called something like that). It's a good rod.
Ben, actually I believe you have the Shimano Crucial dropshot rod and they are a great rod. I have 8 of the Crucial rods in different actions and lengths and I love them!

In regards to the post, I usually carry 12-15 rods while prefishing. I dont like to carry too many more cause then I end up getting them all tangled up and it just turns into a big mess. I use Lamiglass, St. Croix, and Shimano in everything from medium lite to heavy. Im not sure which rod I like the most out of the three brands. All are very great rods with great warranties!
