Why but a used Skeeter when you can buy a 2010 Ranger 188 for that much?

The BASS of Washington (B.A.S.S.) has a new (certificate) for a Skeeter XZ 190 for sale for $25K; the great thing about a certificate is you get the boat you want, color, setup etc. Call Ken Day for more information,

You can gat a couple year old ZX225 for under 30gs and get a faster, more stable boat with more storage. With all the big water in this state, I would think that going with the bigger boat would be a no brainer. The ZX225 is a very good fishing platform and is going to handle the rough water much better thanm the 18 and 19 footers. I can't believe that no one else said this yet.
I was actually thinking of that boat. That would be a great boat for someone to get into tourny fishing, and you wouldn't be worried about upgrading after one season. Nearly everyone that ownes or has owned a boat less than 20 feet wants to or did upgrade.
Thanks for the info guys. Aaron u got me thinking about a bigger boat that 05 zx225 at nixon looks pretty nice Jeff also has a nice 2009 zx225 too I really wanted a 08 or newer boat for reliability etc that led me too the smaller boats because they were in the price range but I think your right I would want to upgrade sooner for a bigger boat. Do any of you guys own a zx skeeter or have an opinion on them? I havent looked too closely at the Rangers.
My tourny partner has a ZX225. The boat is fast enough at mid to low 70's, has plenty of storage, handles rough water pretty well, and is crazy stable when sitting still. There are other boats out there that are faster (Triton) and boats that are more luxurious (Ranger), but for the money, the ZX225 is a really good boat. You won't need to upgrade until you wear it out, which is gonna be years down the road if you take care of it.

IMO, the Tritons are a faster boat, but are a little more intensive to drive (I know, you X2 guys are gonna disagree. Get behind the wheel of a wide open 21HP and you have to really drive it). Ranger only lacks in top end speed and are going to cost more for the same size boat. But, they are built ROCK SOLID. I have an 86 Ranger, and it is still as solid as any new boat. I would anticipate that it will be good for another 10 years. But, since it is only an 18 foot boat, I will upgrade to a 20'+ boat as soon as the budget allows.

That ZX225 at Nixon's does look like a pretty nice boat. I wouldn't personally be too concerned with the age of it as long as it has been taken care of. Does anyone know who the previous owner was???? There are tons of good deals out there on boats right now. If you are not afraid of taking a few days to travel, look on the internet at places like Texas and the mid-west. You will get a better deal if you head south. If you are concerned about buying a boat without seeing it, call a dealer from that area and have them check it out. For $100-$200 you can have a dealer do a quick check on a boat to let you know what the condition of the motor and such is. Just as example...

That took me about 3 minutes to find. Also, check out www.bassboatcentral.com. There are a ton of boats on there too. Good luck, and I hope you find a boat that makes you happy.

take a good long look at the 2009 Jeff has. stretch yourself a bit and be much happier later. not only will you get a good solid boat but the way Jeff treats his customers is unparraled. If the 09 ZX is a bit much the 05 ZX is a great boat and you have Nixon's behind you !

I agree! I had a ZX great boat. Jeff is the best and will take care of you forever. You won't be sorry. He also has some demo's for sale. Bill Roberts
Here are a few things you have to consider:

Tow vehicle...do you have enough power to tow a 21ft boat compared to an 18 or 19ft boat?

Storage...are you planning to garage the boat or just leave it outside?

Overall cost of ownership...bigger boat, bigger motor means more gas and oil, not just for the boat but for you tow vehicle as well.

I have an 01 ZX190 and I love the boat. It's my first bass boat so there is nothing for me to compare to. It has great storage, plenty of deck space, fishes 3 fine (depending on some situations), it's not a 70+mph rig, but plenty fast at 63mph and the best thing is that if fits my garage. Don't get me wrong if I had the funds, I would love to upgrade to a bigger boat. However, having a boat that fits in my garage is probably the most important factor for me. No winterizing, nice to get away from the wife and work on the boat at any time, don't have to worry about a cover, etc,.

If you don't have to worry about these factors, then go with the biggest boat you can because sooner or later you will want to upgrade.
