Looking to upgrade my cranking sticks.  Will be using mostly med. size baits.  What rods do you like and I guess don't like.

The G-Loomis Crankbait rod is amazing!
Hi Randall,
I like my Powell 7ft cranking rod. Really light, throws baits a mile, and a great action for cranks.

Mark
7ft is by far the best cranking rod on the market.
The CBR843 is a great rod no dout !
I enjoy my Lami's and for a great price and solid rod i would suggest the Lamiglas XCF705 7' Medium Heavy Cranking Rod ... :-)
Steez ,flexlite 7'2" medhvy,You will want to fish cranks all the time.
The Fenwick Elite Tech Crankshaft composite rods are really nice. They are a fiberglass/graphite mix so you have the backbone of graphite and the give of fiberglass. This way you don't get worn out throwing crankbaits with a big heavy fiberglass rod anymore!
I have a Lamiglas Excell glass rod that I am not sold on. I have had some trouble with loosing fish on it. I think it might be to light.

I have used Chad's St. Croix glass rod and I liked that rod slightly better.
Hi Randy,

I bought a Dobyns 704CB Glass this spring and I absolutely love it. They say it is glass but Im sure it is a composite...like most. The rod is thin and light. The tip is soft but fast so it cast long and handles a wide varity of small to med. baits. I am very impressed by it's ability to fight fish and not let them get off. I have lost very few fish with this rod. I plan to get another Dobyns CB rod rated for bigger baits! I bought mine at Three rivers marine
Here is a link to a review of the rod...http://tackletour.com/reviewdobyns704cbglass.html
Mike, that is a great choice rod in fact the 704CB is one of Gary's fav glass rod.

-Randall the Dobyns Crank'in line is a great line up, with Randy McAbee teamed up to help design this line you have to understand that he is the king of cranking out west. The action and design built into these rods is phenomenal I have yet to loose a fish on my 705CB Glass.
60% is Glass and the lower end is 40% composite. This allows the fish to turn with the bait getting the hooks into its mouth, preventing hooks ripping out and great back bone to get the fish into the boat. The diameter of the rod is smaller then most giving it a light feel so you don't get fatigued and is balanced forward cause your working the rod down-word. And Always when you throw a bait that has a treble hook throw it on a GLASS ROD!!!!
Also check out the 8Ft stick great for deep cranking!!!

-Any questions just ask -Barlow

G-Loomis CBR845, it makes for a great deep diving crank and jerkbait rod as well as medium cranks and the extra power makes it great for bringing in bigger fish. It also is a great topwater rod...
i have a fenwick elite tech crankshaft and its really good and for the price its hard to get a better rod. really soft and you can work small or big cranks with no effort at all.
Thanks one and all for your input. It really helped me narrow down my search to 3 different rods. This morning I made my final decission and placed my order. I'll keep it a mystery and let you see it first hand when we meet on the water. hahaha
