With the extra sensitivity of braid would it be a good setup to use a line to line knot, braid to a flourocarbon leader for dropshotting or a carolina rig or any deeper water setup?

I love the braid to flourocarbon anytime I anm fishing over 30' deep. I usually run 10 or 12lb braid to 8 or 10lb flouro when fishing 1/2-3/4oz football heads.
I agree with Jordan, I use 10lbs. Braid (Raptor) with a 10lbs. Fluorocarbon (Vanish) leader on my drop shot rigs. I use 65lbs. and 20lbs. leaders on my Carolina rigs. You feel every bite and get good hooksets with lots of line off the reel. I have been using this in both deep and shallow water.
Yep, I like Daiwa samurai line 18LB and 8LB Flourocarbo leader (Trilene, it seems to break less at the knot for me).

This braid is like silk, 8 strands and smooth. I would not go any lighter, it tends to tangle as it is so limp. My next order I will step it up to 20LB.

I don't do the braid to flouro knot, I use a small swivel to join the lines. I am not sure how much sensitivity that takes away, but you raise a good question.
i did it this year with 12lb power pro to 8lb pline flouro.
it was really sensative just be careful with the minimal stretch
The Slim Beauty Knot is an excellent knot for a braid to fluorocarbon union. I highly recommend it. Not only is it one of the strongest, it is smaller in size than other unions and the tag ends both face back towards the reel. This allows the knot to travel through the guides freely without affecting the cast.

Mark, I also like braid with a fluorocarbon leader for my Carolina Rigging at times. I am just curious where you are fishing the 65# braid to a 20# leader. That is some serious artillery for C-Rigging, my man. Hey, go big or go home I suppose.
I have been using this set up for years for both drop shot and carolina rig. I recommend the swivel on the drop shot because you won't get any line twist what so ever.

I also use the braid to flouro on my spinning and bait cast reels for all kinds of techniques. You just have to make sure you have a long leader to obsorb the power from the hook set because the line will break at the weakest point, usually at the hook. I don't recommend this for any really med/hvy to heavy rods.

I tried out the uni to uni knot with 30lb spiderwire to 12lb vanish with a sweet beaver over the summer i broke off at the knot on my first hookset. I may have to tone down my hooksets or try a sweeping hookset.

Try the J knot. This was reccomended to me by Marc Marcantonio. I was haveing trouble tying the uni to uni, and the seaguar knot, but I can tie the J knot. 15lb power pro to 10 or 8 or 6lb fc. I feel it is a very strong knot. Just need to tie it correctly. Make sure the entire knot snugs down at the same time and wet it before cinching it down.

My dad does a blood knot with superglue using an 8lb fc leader. I don't do this, but I did watch him land a 7lb largie on the dropshot with it (in a tournament). So, even not the best knots can work if you do everything right.

This combo is all I use on my spinning rods and on a few of my baitcasting rods. Saves a lot of money too since you don't have to respool as much. Just cut off the leader and add a new one.
I have not had any issues with the knot or line twist with this setup. I don't have a spinning rod that doesn't have braid to fluoro. I have only used the uni-uni but would like to try the knot tag suggested simply to make my casts smoother. I also use it on casting rods as well. Love it on the Carolina rig.
I used to have huge issues with knots when I first started using this setup. I use an Albright knot now and it's been good and I can tie it quick on the water. I do retie quite a bit because of the freying from the eyelets. I like longer leaders so I don't like swivels. I may take a look at Tags knot. Mostly 10 - 20# powerpro with 6 or 8# flouro.
Okay guys , I completely understand the advantage of using Braid to FC in deeper depths for increased sensitivity while dropshoting .. What i dont understand is when anglers use this same set for dropshoting in all depths .

If we spend a butt load of money for the most sensitive dropshot rod on market for example the new Loomis NRX 822 , do we really need to Keep braid on our reel year round to ensure we are not missing fish on a $400+ rod ? Or is this set up mostly catering too the Preference of the anglers fishing style ?

I have heard some guys mention that as age catches up with them their hands become less sensitive , in that scenario i do understand and angler wanting to maximize there touch and feel on the rod handle .

I have heard some guys say that using braid helps them feel the bite better while "dragging" . And even though im totally against this style of angling i can atleast understand yet another style in which maximzing sensitivity would be suitable .

I Have heard some guys say that they use braid because it cuts down on line twist and Like Says mentioned cuts cost on spooling fluoro through out the season ..

So whats the deal here guys ? If none of which stated above applies to me , Im i putting myself at a disadvantage by not using braid ?
