Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I know that this is not new news to any of you.  But this whole lead ban issue is getting way out of hand.  If it passes it is truly going change the way we all fish and hunt.  Because if any of you think that they will stop at fishing tackle you are mistaken.  The next target will be gun ammo.  Imagine the cost of that box of rounds for your 30.06 if they ban lead ammo.   We need your urgent attention to help save our right to use lead fishing tackle!  The EPA is considering a complete ban on the use of lead fishing tackle under the Toxic Substances Control Act.

We have a limited window of opportunity to voice our opinion on the subject by going to the following link and letting the EPA and our elected officials how we feel about this issue. How can you help weigh-in on this issue?

Go to this link below.  Then enter your zip code, it will automatically address the email to YOUR elected officials tell them what you think and save our right to use these products. http://www.capwiz.com/keepamericafishing/issues/alert/?alertid=1635... If passed, this proposal would ban the use of all lead based jigs, spinners, weighted line, weighted lures and sinkers, etc. The time to act is now or you may lose your voice on this issue.

Done. How many times do you guys think we'll have to fight this stuff
I don't know what I did but I must have hit the wrong button because I can't read my own post! So here it is again. Sorry.

And you ask how many more times are we going to have to go through this. I am afraid that this is just the begining.

Done. Thanks for the link Gary. This is getting tiring. I was talking to another angler the other night, and he was pretty convinced that the fight is pointless and the change is coming regardless. His other argument was that the price of tungsten will come way down once the market is forced to change over. What is everyones take on that? The material is expensive, so I just don't see the price dropping that much.
The price of Tungsten will never come down appreciably. It is a rare metal, and more than 50% of the earth's reserves exist in China. It takes more than 6,000 degrees of heat to shape Tungsten into useable form, and that means a lot of energy consumed to make it. Virtually all tungsten tackle is made in China now because of the cost and environmental impact. Tungsten is also toxic, and can just as easily be banned.

Table salt is more toxic than lead, and more deaths are attributed to salt than lead; yet most dinner tables have salt on them. This lead hysteria is a joke, and if you believe it you are a sucker. Who do you know that has died from lead toxicosis? Is it really the problem you are told? Sure, lead can cause death in animals, but let's keep it in perspective and fight back against the hysteria. I have handled lead all my life (more than anyone I know), and I have recently been tested for lead toxicosis; the results came back saying my levels are nondetectable.

I don't believe a ban is inevitable; and I refuse to give up without a fight.

ciao,
Marc

You are welcome, Aaron, and thanks for asking. The more informed we all are the better we are capable of defeating these crazy ideas. BTW, I just read my message again and want to clarify that when I used the word "you" I was not referring to any one person, but to whomever is reading my comments.
