Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

So I got a call a couple of days ago from the Sportsman Show guys.  He wanted to know if I could do the seminar's again and also asked about Ron Hobb's and Marc Marcantonio's availability.

So my question is what would you guys like to hear from us.  I planned on doing 2 seminar's.  One on winter bass fishing on Washington / Sammamish and one on finesse rigs. Neko, Zip, Flick shake etc.  Are their other topic's that the guys want to hear about this year?

Oh, and those techniques you mentioned, nope, never heard of any of them. Maybe you can give a seminar. All I fish with is EagleClaw rods and powerbait.
Pat... Im only 15 as of sunday, and I know all of those techniques and employ all of them ifishing by the month and day and etc... Im pretty sure Aaron has used them also!

i'm more interested in your tournament schedule and what your qualifications are, i know what aaron martens' are. do you fish tournaments? have you ever won one?
it's easey to go buy a jersey and add patches but that doesn't make you a pro, there are a lot of "pros" who are not good fishermen, i hope you don't fall into that category, and i was trying to figure out who does.
you don't have much crediibilty with regard to california have you ever heard of
splitshot
doodling
drop shot
flipping
football heads
spider jigs
just to name a few
Almost anybody in Washington knows how effective the dropshot and football heads are. All those techniques are known in our state. And to be honest i think our state is the hardest to bass fish in. Look at Ike he got skunked twice in our state like aaron said. Ron and marc have both done very well on those lakes. Maybe you havent heard of NW bass either which is one of the largest circuits.
Sorry Phil, guess that didn't go so well, did it. Maybe you are right. Nick's a super nice kid, maybe he can talk about being nice to people. I might learn a thing or two ;)

How about a seminar on how we as a bass fishing community need to stick together and get along.
Remember back in the day when football jigs and spider jigs were the bomb in places like Elephant Butte and Havasu. Oh the joys of assembling your own spider jigs using a Yamamoto skirt and a twin tail grub!

I also recall a magazine article a number of years ago describing an angler on Sammamish (I believe) using a new "down shot" technique from Japan which looked a lot like what the kids call "drop shot" today. However, the down shot technique involved securing the weight at the end of the line by the use of a thin flexible wire. In the event that the weight would get snagged on the bottom, the wire would straighten and you were able to get back your rigging less the weight. Kind of a fancy version of a saltwater bottom fish rig. Rumor is that Fishing Facts magazine covered this type of freshwater rig in the mid 1970s.

Oh, sorry. I forgot we were talking about California. My bad.
Sorry Mark, I was kind of harsh, just sounded like you where trying to speak for me, as of right now I have no intentions of giving seminars at the Sportsmen Show unless my time away from my family, work, and sponsors is compensated in some way. A free ticket and a slap on the back just doesn't go very far these days. I get compensated just to sit in a booth, so that is probably what I'll do.

Ron,
Didn't have your booking fee's handy to give to Mr. Brennan of O'laughlins sporting shows. He asked If I had your's and Marc's phone numbers, which I didn't and said he would be calling you guys later in the week. I assumed he has called you, but we all know what the mother of all f*ck ups is. ass u me . Any ways I was just trying to get some feed back from guys to see what they wanted to hear.
As to getting u a $125K upfront, we could work something out like they do on WSOP, where u have to split any winnings with me.

While your booking my seminars would you mind getting me about 125K dollars so that I can fish the FLW Tour as well!

Thanks Mark much appreciated-
Ron

Tim,
No rumor there about the drop being started back in the 70's. Most of the guys from the Texas gulf coast have been using this rig since the late 60's and early 70's. It was the same rig just named differently.

No sweat Ron, I knew you were messing with me.
Pat the speaker that talked about using a swivel with the dropshot was me. And I remember that I also said I use a straight flourocarbon dropshot 90% of the time. There were some very special applications in which I would use a swivel. And not just any swivel, but actually spoke about two different kinds of swivels and why I would use them. Is this valuable information, to you apparently not, but to some who have an open mind and are willing to experiment, then they will benefit from this.
It's clear from your many post that you enjoy making post to antagonize, but really don't offer much to this site as to spreading info and furthering the sport. That's ok, if your goal is to stir the pot, consider the pot stirred. Just no one else here will ever take you seriosly now.

and you are taken seriously? seriously?
seemed to me by Rons respopnse he wasnt messing with you. he didn't like you speaking for him he apoloigized for the tone not the content
I am attempting to figure out what info is useful and what is opinion, i think when people get defensive over anothers questions it indicates that those people really don't know what they are talking about, or don't want to furhter the discussion
its like arguring with my husband

FISH ON. TWENTY POUND BAGS! This is clearly Delay/Misanthrope/Pat taking a dump in peoples wheaties.

Go and read some of "pats" posts. He's a very witty and funny guy. Everything is calculated.

He just ripped on Nick, Mark, and Marc in the same post claiming he doesnt know who they are yet he watched them all last year, and they are all active on Wafish. Coincidence they are all on this site?

Kinda suprised some of you arent picking up on this.
Jake,
I picked up on it about a month or so ago. I figure it was Delay.
And all of this takes away from the original question, what would the members here like to hear about. We kind of have Pat's opinions. Dez has chipped in, what about some of the other members.

I would like to hear about fishing for largemouth on the Columbia. Suppose nobody's gonna cough up much on that one though! lol.

I'd like to hear about advanced crankbaiting. (billed cranks)

I would be interested in talking about how some of you guys reinvent yourselves on old bodies of water. Ie...how to avoid getting stuck in ruts, and how to think differently.

New product updates. Maybe someone could talk about new products they are stoked about, or new rigs that have potential. Its tough keeping up with all the new stuff, and even tougher to decide what to invest in, and what to leave alone.
