Evergreen Bass Club Freeze Your Bass Blast 2014 "Canceled"
The Evergreen Bass Club is seeking your input for next years tournament. Even if your not a tournament angler, we want to hear from you! It will most likely be held on Lake Sammamish in February. The guaranteed big fish pot will be back! We've thrown around the idea of making the big fish option, an individual option. Our numbers, were down a little last year, and we want this thing to grow! All the proceeds from this tournament go directly to our Soldier Fishing Event. That's correct, the proceeds benefit the men and women who serve your country, not our club! What will it take to get you to come out for this thing? What has drawn you to this event before? What don't you like about this event? Is there a way we can run things smoother? Was the free food, and drinks to your standards? Raffle thoughts? Better ways we can recognize our sponsors? How many of you would purchase a gourmet coffee that would support our cause if we had a coffee truck there selling lattes, mochas, and other specialty items? How many of you who don't have a boat/partner would be inclined to fish if we could set you up with someone?
How many of you remember the Big Bass Blast Event's that used to be held on Lake Washington? What were your thoughts on that?
There are many open tournaments out there to chose from, but rarely do they directly benefit outstanding causes like this! Please consider fishing this event next year. We promise to do our best in meeting your standards!

The year you had the coffee truck was awesome! PJ was so jacked up I had to tie him to the front seat!
Here's an idea- Evergreen and Puyallup should join forces for this event and keep it at Lk Samammish. Not sure what Puyallup does with the proceeds from their tournament but maybe they would consider the Wounded Warriors?

Interesting thought process, what is so original about holding an open tournament? Did you come up with that "original" idea? I know there has been some friction between our clubs and it has been going on longer than I have been involved but this kind of post sure doesn't help the tension. I'm not sure where it all started but it would be nice if it stopped. Friendly banter is one thing...

I think you guys missed my point. Puyallup had been holding their event since the 90's at that location and earlier in the year than any other event. Rather than doing something original or creative, you just made your tournament at the same place and just a little earlier. It was a lame move to step on the feet of another club. I've fished it, I like it and I support the cause, but if you want to complain about bad blood, maybe you guys should look at the decisions you have made and decide if they were right or wrong. Their is zero doubt in my mind that the date and location wad chosen because of the success of the samamish open and at some level a deliberate infringment on puyallup's tradition.

Regarding this tournament. The draw for me would be to support those who fight for my freedoms. I'd also like to catch some fish in a competitive fashion. Any extracuriculars aren't necessary for me and wouldn't add to any appeal.

so here is the ultimate answer to the question though. It takes a lot of hsrd work to put on one of these events and all of Chads questions and concerns are valid, but i doubt they will solve the problem of low attendance that we are all dealing with. So, here is the long term answer:
Make more fishermen.
Take co-workers, friends, family, or anyone who may have any intrest at all fishing. Take them to your honey holes, share your best baits, help them understand why they are catching fish. Make them good at whst they are doing and develope them into confident fishermen who will want to compete in tournsments. We have lost many participants to cost, careers and familys. So, our sport is depending on a replenishment of new talent. We, the experienced anglers, have a responsibility to the sport to create the next generation of anglers. Get more people in your clubs by being inviting and welcoming. And don't hold back on knowledge! -
