Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Maybe I'm losing my mind, but I thought I've heard multiple guys tell me awhile ago that fishing in the arboretum isn't allowed, but I can't find anything in the regs about it. Also I'm not really sure what the official boundaries of the arboretum would be?  Any help?

This is the first time I've heard about people fishing the bird sanctuaries during NWBASS tournies. How many years back was this? As far back as I can remember, Gary has always stated those areas as off limits. I will be more than happy to file a protest if someone is going to be that ignorant.

I have never seen the signs the last 9 years I have been fishing lake washington.  Where were they? You think they would be easier to find. Maybe it was an over anxious tree hugger that put the signs up? What I have read about the aboreteum is that it is a park not a sanctuary. If you look it up there is a map and the western section of backwaters under 520 is not the aboreteum at all. It seems that it is a botanic garden.

Rick,

I was not trying to push any envelopes, I'm not fishing NWBASS and was just curious as to what was considered normal for the rules regarding the arboretum.  I have never seen any signs in any of the places you have mentioned, so I have no idea what's off limits.  I just don't want to be on the wrong side of the rules or waste my time learning water thats off limits.

I know Gary is trying to get clarification on this, however I have lived here all of my life I know for the last 30 years since I started boating in lk wa it has been off limits for all boats with motors. That is what the signs have always stated by all small bridges where a boat would consider going in. I have not been in that area for over 10 yrs but I'm sure nothing has changed. As far as fishing allot of people fish in there and you can fish just not from a boat with a motor beyond the trails. You can fish from the canoes, non motorized boat, of from docks and shore. It is muddy sloughs and back channels. It has always been known as a wildlife sanctuary and provides allot of habitat for the turtles and birds.Just an observation a bass boat in there with a trolling motor would really make a mess back there.

My only guess if not posted now is that an over anxious bass angler removed them. There is part of it you can enter from the 520 bridge side that has never been posted (some parts are a challenge as you need to remove your windshields to better pass back and forth under he bridge. But where all the docks, bridges, trails are has previously always been posted.

Seems like every year lately someone is trying to push the envelope on Lake Wa. and there is controversy??? I wonder why Gary is not to fond of Lake Wa?????

Hope that helps??

Ron,

I should have been more clear, and I appologize. I was responding to the previous post about the Yarrow, and Juanita sanctuaries.

Do it Live on the edge! (Not if specified by a tournament director of course but for fun)
i would just stay out of there. The aboreteum is a pornographic oriented alternative sex nudist colony. I hear a raped ape in a white Triton was seen coming out of there on Saturday.

What parts of Juanita and Yarrow are closed or are they clearly marked?

Yes, they are marked. The Eastern shoreline of Juanita bay extending out a few hundred yards, and the Southern shoreline of Yarrow bay extending out a hundred yards.

Chad

I was talking about the Aboretum, a reply to Rick's post on the signs, that I have never seen.
