A Salute to Al Seibert
It is with a heavy heart I report that Al Seibert, a prominent member of our bass fishing community in Washington, passed away last night. Al was a huge part of our local bass fishing community and was always the type of person you could count on a smile for no matter how the tournament went.
Al was the director of ABA in Washington when I first got started in tournament fishing and I'll never forget the "extended" drivers meetings as we were all itching to head out fishing on tournament mornings, the stories he had before and after the tournament, the pat on the back he'd give each time I saw him and his overall good nature. I'm not sure Al ever really called me by my first name but I was just fine with that familiar voice yelling at me from across the weigh in "Doucet!!! Get your butt over here! How the heck are you?". I'm sure many others have similar stories too.
My condolences go out to Al's family as they go through this time of grieving. We have lost a huge asset to our community.

To day was a real tough day for me I got the call early. I have know Al for what seems like forever he was one of my best friend, and mentor. Always had good story's to tell was always ready to help any body that need help he loved to be the guy that would run the raffles at jamboree loved the Mariners. He was a great true friend of mine I'll miss you RIP Al. We will hook up on the other side later buddy

Very sad news indeed. Al was one of the "good ones" He loved the sport and loved the men and women doing it even more. A truly great man. He will be missed.

I had not heard about Gordon passing Dana. That is terrible news indeed. I remember way back in the day when a buddy and I were in Big Wally's buying some fishing tackle. We picked up a lake map to purchase and he asked if we were going to be eating there. We said yes and he said "why don't you leave that map with me while you eat". I thought, heck, what a deal. We finished up lunch and went back to where he was and he had that damn map all marked up for us! I couldn't believe it! What a great person he was. He was always willing to help out newcomers to the sport. He will be dearly missed.

Man my condulences to the family's. .. Since 1993 till they sold it I've stopped by Big Wallys on my way to Roosevelt and talked to Gordon in that back room...thanks for helping a young buck and for the conversations and tips you will be missed!

Al was indeed a one of a kind. He would always bring a smile to your face no matter if you finished first or last. From his time serving as ABA director to serving our country, he was one of the most selfless men I've ever met. He was a guy who had no expectations of winning, but was just happy to be there. In this years ABA championship, you should have seen his face, when he realized him and his partner beet Hobbs/Wolsky. They didn't get a check for it, but the reaction was priceless! My heart is sad for his loss. He's just one of those guys I'll always remember, and look up to. My deepest condolences, and prayers go out to his family and friends.

I am also shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of both Al and Gordon. Both in their own ways have left their legacy on bass and walleye fishing in the Pacific Northwest. Both were friends that were generous and ready to help. They have each positively affected our lives in ways many will never know, but are better off because of them.
I wish I could be at Al's service, but an unexpected death of a family member in Orting will be my focus on this weekend. In this case we lost a wonderful woman from sudden complications of a simple urinary tract infection (UTI).
Give your loved ones hugs and kisses at every opportunity and make the most of your life, because life is precious, and oh so fragile.
Rest in peace Al, Gordon, and Kathy; you are already missed in this life. God's speed.
