Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Hi Guys,

In my quest to continue to grow wafish, I am tinkering with the idea of creating an area on WAFISH for bass/musky clubs to have their own group to discuss happenings within the club, club tournaments, results, etc... It may require a bit of work on my end but I think this would be a great asset for some clubs who like mine struggle with communication and end up in a mess of emails.

I would like some feedback on if anyone would be interested in this feature. If so, any specifics you would like to have? The only thing I think would be nice is if they were password protected maybe?

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

I'm with you. Communication with the club members can be frustraiting. We attempted a message board on our web site a while back, but it wasn't really used. I think the time is right to try again, and I'm sure it would offer more exposure to your adds.

The nice part about this Aaron is if you select the "Follow" link within any topic you will get notified when someone replies to a topic so that might make more people follow. Plus most members within clubs already have an account on WAFISH so no need to create yet another online account of some sort.

I'm just putting the feelers out there. Let me know if you have any other thoughts or ideas.

I would also agree with Aaron.  Communication seems to be the biggest thing within the club that causes the foundation to become unsteady.  We also have tried a message board and/or forum that was used very little except for the couple that communicate already.  Am not sure exactly what it will take to get the rest of the club onboard to actively communicate through a digital means which in my belief the best way to keep all the information centered in one place and easily retrieve when needed.

Yup. The notification part is a great idea. I would be pretty open to other clubs or non members following us. Sharing ideas will help the sport in general. Plus, guys can get to know a little about the personalities of club members if they are shopping for a club to join. Not a fan of them being able to post and troll, but read should be fine.
Hey, heard a rumor two clubs are joing together? Any validity to that? There is so much less participation right now, I'm not surprised.

Western Bass Club has a forum that has worked for us in the past.  Its a good way to put out last minute changes and other information for members whom cant make the meetings.  Although it has been very slow lately it was once very popular within the club.

Post and troll...that's how I roll!!! And fish

Jordan,

That would be great for us at CMA.  Our current website doesn't offer a forum and we use Wafish by default.  Giving us a club specific forum/chat area on Wafish would be great!

You should include a section for club members only if you do. I'm not a computer guy; but there is info the members like to keep within the club. I'm not sure how you would go about doin' that but I'm sure it's possible. On another note, if you could do that, I'm sure the clubs out there running their own websites could get rid of them and use WAFISH instead to save a few bucks, and the time it takes to update etc.

This is a huge undertaking on your part, I see merit in it. I have to second the concerns that have been  posted up above.

To be a club "web master" requires time and work. Club News Letters, is this a task you have considered?

Club domain names and links, how would this work?  Can our current web sites be archived to the "new" site? I am sure most of don't want to loose that idenity.
