Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

Did anyone else happen to catch the City Limits Fishing show with Mike Iaconelli on the Puget Sound and Lake Washington? He didn't catch a single bass on Wa. Is that good or bad for the rest of us? Part of me says some of you guys that really know the lake should see if you can get him back here to show him we really do have a great smallmouth fishery. The other part says don't tell him and just sit back and enjoy the fact that one of the best bass anglers in the world couldn't figure out what you already know. What do you all think?

I thought it sucked he got skunked but he really didn't have much time to fish for the smallies anyway! I think he should come back and give it another try but stick to just bass!
I agree he should stick to bass. I hate when I go try and watch a show about bass fishing and they fish for some other species, like salmon or some other salt water fish.

Guys, there is alot more to this story than what was shown in the episode. I have firsthand knowledge that Mike was handicapped from the get go on this one and with the crap weather to boot, he really didn't have much of a chance to catch any bass.

Mark is right on this one. I know there is a lot more to this story on top of the brutal cold front that came through. I agree wtih Dave that it would be fun to have Mike go out under decent conditions with someone who could put him on some good fish (Deuce?).

Trust me, if you gave Mike a little bit of time on Lake Washington he would figure out how to spank 90% of the guys that fish the big lake every weekend. Love him or hate him, he is a machine.
I wish he would or some top pro would come out and slay'em. I would like someone to "fall in love with Lk. Wa." So they could try to push for a big tourny on it.
Needs to come back fish the six hours for bass only. I don't thing he needs help to find fish.Better weather point him to the east channel and hes going to find fish
Saw the same show. It was cool to see some local coverage and would have been even better to run into them out on Wawa.

One of Ike's videos shows him just killing the smallmouth on bridge pilings with tubes... fighting the current with his trolling motor on hi to keep the boat positioned under the bridge. Spot looks exactly like Wawa.

It would be cool to see Ike fish Sammamish and then head East to Potholes, Banks, and Whitestone! Maybe hit the dock at Scriber? LOL!
I saw that show too. He really had the odds against him, with the weather for sure. Tough conditions. Also, I'm not sure about anyone else here, but I've never caught a keeper off the 520 pilings where he was fishing. I would have turned around and fished webster!

Ike is a real cool guy, I got the chance to meet him at Puyallup a couple years ago. As far as taking him out, I'd freaking love to, as I'm sure everyone else here would. He actually went out with a local guy to sammamish when he was here previously in the winter. I don't think he caught any fish then either. Again, would have loved that opportunity. He probably thinks us washington boys are nuts, or he's got mad respect for us!
Ike has a really good show going, his producers tried to do too much and the weather didn't co-operate. In reality he should come back and tape two episodes in Seattle, one day for salt water fishing and day two on Lake Washington. When it comes to convincing his producers to return to Seattle, lets quote Ike, "NEVER GIVE UP"!!!
I'm with you, Jordan...two trips on great smallie water and Mike hasn't scared up a bite yet. I know it is a matter of many things outside of his control, and I know with a little help and point in the right direction, he would be good to go...but there are some distinct differences between our big lakes and what he has experienced elsewhere in the country, and if you have to figure things out yourself you generally would need a little more time to adjust to the differences.

I think there are a lot of us on this site that could put him on fish on either lake, any time of the year.

I'm with you Marc, I think he just needed some info from people in the know about the lake. I guess it probably needed to be a big secret when he was here, too bad that he couldn't have been given the benefit of some time with the real local experts on the lake. Mark was right too, Mike unfortunately started out with a handicap. Maybe a coordinated effort from this website could get him back. Some clever promotional ideas and I would think its a sure thing.
I'm just going to say this which I know is very true and kind of disappointing, all of the pros get tons of local help where ever they go. 100's of waypoints maps and such. It's part of the game. I don't think these guys are necessarily better than anyone on this site, they just have a better network. Which guy wouldn't tell Kevin VanDam, Ike, Skeet, or Jerald the best honey hole on Lake Washington. Anyone can catch the fish if put on top of them. They are not gods, well maybe VanDam. They non other than well networked business men.

sorry this post is kind of negative, but it is truth.
