Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

My 4 year old Trogans are toast, so I need two new deep cycle Batteries, Cabelas has AGMs at $140 and Pacific power has group 31 - 140 AH lead /acid at $150 each. Anybody know of the same quality at a better price?? I will not try to save $$ on cheap batteries as I have learned that lesson the hard way, when your batteries crap out on a windy day at noon and the fishing is good, you forget all about the few $$ you saved.

Thanks

I've just bought my second Exide battery in four years. I'm pretty happy with it. I think they also go by the name Nautilus. Batteries are kind of like cars--every one has a favorite. This brand is in the $90 range. I agree: Nothing can be more frustrating than losing power when you need it. I also agree that there is no savings when you buy a cheaper battery.
I have gotton 5-6 years out of my AC Delco's! They have treated me perfect for the last 12 years.......
I'm suprised you are giving up on the Trogan's. I have had such good luck with them that the extra $ was worth it. I had a Ranger with 2 six volts that lasted about 10 yrs. My boat now has a 24 volt system and I've had these Trogan's for 4 yrs and still going strong. Lot's of good batteries out there so I'm sure there is a good replacement for your Trogan. Good Luck!
I can't find anybody that carries Trogans any more, I would buy two more if anybody would handle them, I like a local dealer that I can exhange or pro rate a battery that expires under 60 months

Hi Fred, I do stock the SCS225 batteries and have two in stock - Trojan is having promotion currently so I can sell you the SCS225's at a discounted price. Please give me a call at 253-548-2232 , open until 6 pm, 9 to 3 on Saturday.
Does Trojan make a larger starting battery than the 27SM-1100 ?? I've had one less than 2 years and it just cranked the outboard for 15-20 seconds and then went dead. I was trying to run it on the hose.
Battery call Trojan not Trogan. ha ha

I learn buy good battery do not be cheap skate. Just like swimbait. You get what you pay for. Like call girl. ha ha ha ha

I run group 29 Interstates and have never had a problem. Really, lead acid batteries are either crap or quality, Interstate is on the quality side, it is in the construction of the battery where Interstate makes their mark. Then you have Maintanence Free, AGM Glass Mat, which are great, but more $$ and will probably last you the same amount of time a lead acid battery will. the Gel Cell batteries are good, but a lot more $$ and do not like to sit uncharged/half charged for a long time, but they are very durable and can be mounted any way you want. Get what you can afford, and just maintanence the batteries on a regular basis, that is the ultimate demise to batteries is poor maintanence/charging practices.
