Great idea Travis!  I have tried to get something like this going before on another forum although it didn't take off.

 

Hopefully it does there and if you're ever up on Vancouver Island let me know, as I have a boat and could take you out!

I feel like this information is located on everyone's profile, thus making it pointless to create a new group or discussion for it. Most everyone has a public profile so you can see their home city and can send them a friend request if you desire.  After you are friends with someone ask for their phone number in a private message if you really want to fish with them.

true, but not everyone is looking for someone to bug them about going fishing, the whole idea behind this is to find out those willing to fish with one another without trying your luck with someone random hoping they would want someone to fish with.

I agree Travis. 

 

If you were wanting to go fishing with someone I would think that the last thing you would want to have to do is to review a bunch of profiles to try to find someone close to you, hope they have a boat, send them a PM to see if they are even interested in taking you out and after all that seeing if they are available the day that you want to go!  Sounds like a royal PITA to me...

 

I would think that a post titled something like 'Anybody want to take me out this weekend?' or something along those lines with a brief post about where you are and where you would like to go would be a much better idea.  I know for one that any time I am going out and I have a free seat I will post on one of our local forums that I am going out and anyone wishing to tag along is more than welcome.  This method seems to work fine.

 

I've never seen a post like that on here so maybe that doesn't happen where you are.  People get weird when they think they have a 'secret spot' and don't like sharing the knowledge that someone probably shared with them in the first place...

I think I get what you are saying now, you're talking about a designated discussion forum to post up and say hey, I'm P.J. and I'm going fishing at ______ tomorrow and I have an empty backseat if anyone wants to fish...

Just like you could post up and say, Hey, I'm Steve and although I don't have a boat I would REALLY like to go fishing this weekend if anyone has a spare seat.  I live in Mt. Vernon but will travel as far as Potholes to get my fix. 

 

It works both ways!

I am game if anyone wants to try out the east side i.e. Lake Chelan, Roses, Wapato, Banks,etc.

I have an older boat but willing to share, baits and tackle, etc. I am retired and can go anytime. Fish alone alot but always like company..

I posted something a couple years ago.  I live in Wenatchee, but was going to be visiting family around the Federal Way area.  I posted saying I was interested in going fishing over there if anyone was going.  I had a couple responses from people and I ended up going with Daniel. 

I like the idea of having some sort of page where you can go on and let people know where you are going and when and invite people to tag along.  However, it seemed to me that just simply posting something in the bass fishing page works just about as good as anything.
