Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

The what was called last year, FLW National Guard Western Series, now call FLW American Series Western Division schedule is posted and it looks pretty good to me...

I was wondering what other angler's were thinking about it? Is there a better $1000.00 entry fee tournament out there that pays back better?

Northwest Bass and ABA are awesome for here at home and the payout versus entry fee's are good to go... but I don't have to travel a thousand miles to get to them and spend a bunch of money. The lakes they have picked for the Western division should be fun but will any of you be willing to make the trips or even one or two?

2 Thoughts of mine...

1. The 10 tournament schedule for the FLW Tour will prevent many of the West Coast Angler's, who fish it, from fishing this series making this a no brainer for the locals as the competition will in my opinion be limited to mostly none full-time anglers who choose to travel or local anglers. I think you'll have a few show up who have 2 boats maybe but the tournaments are pretty close and I know some won't make the trips.

2. The payouts are all the way into 50th place... this is good to put some money back in everyone's pocket to help out the costs of traveling but breaking even for tournament expenses will require a good finish on the Pro and Co sides.

Johnny,

I am personally planning on fishing the 4 tournaments because it's all we have out west. The Payouts I think are not good enough compared to years past. With a $1,000 entry 50th only makes $1,100 on a full field past years $3,000 entry 50th $10,000.00(200 boat field) $4,000 entry 50th $10,000 for full field(150 boat field) 2,000 entry 50th 5,000.00 now for 2011 $1,000 entry and 15th place is $2,000.00.

I believe if they kept the payouts the same as previous years we could have had an excess of Pro's now I just hope they fill!
Yeah... probably a 1 in 5 payout would be better for everyone planning on fishing all 4... atleast you could make up for a bad tournament with a few good ones.

I agree it's the only thing we have out here that offer's the winner a big pay day 4 times a year with a no cost Championship.... well it's out East but still an ok deal.

With that said paying to fish the Northwest Bass tournaments and getting to fish the Championship is a great deal... I only hope that Northwest puts a schedule together that allows me to fish both as last year the Championship was during the lake Roosevelt, AZ tourney.

I'm up in the air about it all... I'm interested in hearing some non-tournament angler's opinion also... I'm a little partial to traveling and fishing because it's fun... but financially does it make sense is the real question... If you win one it's definitely worth it and I believe that's what'll keep me interested.
