What frogs do you guys like?
Do you prefer hollow body frogs or the buzz type frogs?
I have seen them on the shelves but don't know anyone who uses the frogs that have the actual legs on them.
Anyone ever catch Smallmouth on them?

Nicely done Eric, I'm going to have to get out there and try one!
Thanks Joel. I have to warn you that it is habit forming. I could have caught a bunch of smallies but just stuck with the frog because when you get the bite it is AWESOME.
The second one I caught I was looking away and I heard a splash. I set the hook before I even looked. Luckily it had the bait in it's mouth.

Nice fish Eric! I am having a problem getting the frog to sashay back and forth. It just wants to pop forward despite the different speeds and rhythms I pop the rod. Currently I am using 12lb mono because I fish more open water next to boats and docks with little to no surface vegetation.
Trimming the legs shorter will help your frog walk. Also, you must twitch the rod tip with more controlled slack in your line than you would with a spook or sammy. Keep practicing and you'll get it down.

I would still use braid to get the best possible hookest, Nolliver.

Nice frog fish, Eric. Good luck trying to put it down.

Very Nice Eric ! When we going froggin ?
Mike Bess helped me fine tune my walking technique. The biggest tip I think he gave me was to throw out your spook/ sammy technique. The frog walk is really more like walking it in place. The bait makes very slow forward progress once you get it going. The slack is important too, like Tag pointed out. It is a lot harder than walking hard baits IMO and a lot of times I end up hopping when I am trying to walk.

Chris B- I was thinking about going Monday through Friday this week and you got my number big boy :-)

When fishing topwater you want your line to float so you should be using heavier line. I usually use 17lb test when using mono and I am using 65lb braid for the frogs.
