I forgot the anglers name who won , But his 2 day total was 29-30lbs !!
Thanks Dez,

By the way, I was just informed a few days ago that my crankbait provider will be going exclusively to the translucent design. I have samples coming in to verify quality, etc. I will get you some good ind. pics to review.
Does your crankbait provider speak english?

Hadcock had 29+ for 1st
2nd had 26.6
3rd had 26. 3
4th had 23.8
5th 23.2
If I remember correctly. Ken said the Coulee Playland website will have the results posted in a week or so.
The word got out on the spot that I won it on last year and 7 boats were on it Saturday morning fishing the area. We didn't have a chance to fish it. The 3rd place team took most of there fish from that area. I haven't seen that good of weight before for the Frostbite win. It usually is around 26 to 27 lbs. Getting almost 30 was such a huge number. Very impressive to say the least.
We wound up with 20.30 lbs junk fishing different areas. Most of our fish came on the drop shot with a few fish on other baits. ( Crank, jerk and football head grubs ).
Yes he does. It does have a bit of a southern flair but he speaks english.
Small, independant bait maker I came across. All baits are hand made..
how can they be hand made and translucent (clear)?
That's a great question. I thought I had that understood, but, I obviously didn't know. The maker gets the body in a clear form. He creates the colors, etc.
Now that you bring out that question, I guess the body isn't hand made by himself. My provider has them made for him by his specs. Then does the color thing and components.
An honest misunderstanding on my part. From what I gathered when I made contact was he did make the body. I appreciate the question, because it made me dig a little deeper. None the less, it is a well made bait and offers some unique color options. Check out the attached pic and you decide for yourself.

In fairness to some of the boats on the area in question, with today's mapping software, side imaging, etc. it does not take good anglers long to find productive areas, especially if they are proficient with their electronics. Just because people were on a spot that was productive for someone in a previous tournament, doesn't mean they poached it or went there because they heard someone won there.
These guys guys earned 3rd place on their own as they had found the spot on the roadbed after several days of practice. These guys earned it and we felt like they had not cherry picked the spot we were on. So lets not give these guys a bad name for doing something they had totally worked and found on their own.

I have a lot of respect for guys who figure out these events on their own.
I didn't fish the Frost Bite this year, but, I know several guys that did. All spent time prefishing and found fish. I agree with Tag and Russ, there are to many variables that apply. Any one angler can come across a spot that may be a known location, in general, but, not all anglers have the ability to make it work just like those that did in a previous event. Tag is right that with all the new technology and determination of todays competitors they will find what is perceived as secret spot. It's just the way it is and it will make it more competitive. The fact we all fish the same lakes so often, a honey hole or secret spot will not stay that way long. Somebody will discover it, sooner or later. Todays anglers are just to good not to.
Take it from a guy that has been trying for a long time.

Once again Tag has it pinned, well said.
