Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I was out fishing with my youngest daughter last week after work and seen about a 5 to 6lb Largemouth cruising around this dock. I spent about 10 min just watching to see the area I was going to need to cast to when I came back. I came back about 20min later there was a big yellow lab on the shore barking nonstop. I cast under the dock about 5 times feel a tick and set the hook sure enough it is the fish that I had seen earlier the fish swims out from under the dock and makes a big jump the next thing I know the yellow lab has dove off the dock and is chasing my fish! I'm yelling at the dog and trying to fight the fish at one point the dog is about 2 feet from the fish just about getting ready to take a bite the fish takes a run away from the dog and then back at the dog finally I got the dog to get away and finally landed the fish.
What funny stories do you have?

Man that is funny. I have thought about bringing my golden retriever out with me in the boat sometime, but i am afraid she would jump in after my lures and my fish.
That is a pretty good one! I have seen some dogs do some funny stuff around docks.

The funniest thing I have seen lately was on a website like this one. There was this guy who was a pretty big ball buster on the site. Anyway one of his buddies decided to photoshop his face onto a picture of a woman riding a unicorn and post it on the site. It was a week ago and I still LMAO every time I think about it.
I am suprised this topic hasn't gotten a little more traction. I know I have some funny stories but I just can't remember them right now. I think I already told the shart one, but did I mention that it was in a tourney?
Good stuff so far, heres my strory.
Warm August evening on Lake Rossevelt. Beer in one hand, rod in the other. I set the hook and rod slips out my hand. I jumped in the water after it with beer still in hand. Just snagged my pole as it was sinking to the bottom and the fish is still on. Decided to tread water as I finished the beer. Best part was I landed the fish, finished my beer, and the guest on the boat were entertained...good times had by all!
Fishing Moses years ago. My buddy lived on the lake and we had his Ranger anchored on a sand flat in front on the house. We took off in my boat to go carp hunting. A famous "Moses Windstorm" came up and blew at least 30-40mph. As we came back under the I-90 by the state park, I looked to the left in front of the house and all you could see was the cowling above the water! The boat was totally swamped! It's true, you can't sink a ranger. It's for sale if anyone is interested.....
That is not only funny but very impressive as well!

i was fishing a small club tourney on tapps a few years back and we fished a spot for awhile caugth some nice fish and it died of so we left. Well we came back about an hour later and my buddy is tieing up a new hook while we drive and i tell him hold on I was gonna make a sharp turn to the right. Well he didnt hold on, the boat grabbed, and he fell right out of the boat (and my boat only does 30mph). It was september and pretty cold so he had quite a bit of clothes on and luckily a lifevest. Anyway i literally laughed for about an hour as I kept picturing him slid right over the gunnel. I felt bad for him so we left and didnt finish the tourney. I hope he reads this

So I go to Sammamish a couple of years ago to fish in the middle of the week in September. Nice fall morning, get ready to launch the boat, tie off the rope to a cleat to launch and put the boat in. Drive the truck and park and get out of the truck to see my Nitro floating away. I'm like " what the f*@K". The boat had pulled the cleat out. So I'm standing on the dock figuring out the best solution. No other boats and nobody at the ramp. Damn. Well I strip down and jump in leaving the clothes on the dock. Swim out about 50yds and get the boat. Remembering the keys to the boat in the pocket of said shorts back at the dock. Damn again. Swim back to dock. Get keys swim back to boat. By this time a school bus pulls up. Lady gets out of school bus to take a smoke break before heading back to the bus yard. Bring the boat back to the dock, jump out buck ass naked and toweled off got dressed and proceeded to give her "less" than she was wishing for that morning at went fishing.

I had just made what I call a double whammy inline spinner (twin bladed in series) and was so anxious to try it, I rushed over to a nearby by lake. After checking to see that the blades spun well, I casted it out a country mile with my curado and got a hit on the retrieve then lost it. Threw it out again and SMASH!!!! Pulled back a little and lost it. Okay, third time's a charm. Casted it out again and another hit, and a miss.

I'm starting to think, what the @#@#?! I can't miss this many times. Impossible. I reel it up and realize I forgot to add the frickin' hook. I had never laughed and been so pissed at the same time. I didn't have a hook since I just "rushed" out to the lake. God's sense of humor and irony.
I was fishing down in the Keys on a bridge. I start to real in a fish when out from under the bridge a 12' aligator comes flying out. Scared the crap out of me. We later learned to bring the fish in really fast when the get close to shore.
Well my tourney partner, (WCCT), has a thing for anything that flies. Last year at the potholes he casted a lipless crank and he ended up with a seagull on the line. Before you know it we have hundreds of seagulls above the boat. I'm not exaggerating here. They completely blocked out the sun, and the you know what was hitting the water and the boat everywhere. He finally got his line cut and they headed off. Somehow neither one of us was hit with the nitrate rich rain.

On Moses Lake we were running the bank on an insland throwing lipless cranks. I say watch out for those two geese. Sure as shit he casts, they take off, and he nails one in midair. Fortunately it came unbuttoned.

This doesn't even cover the ducks he has hit with his boat. He is not trying either, just has the hoodoo on him. He can slow down to 15 or 20 mph and they still kamakazee him.
Well this one time in band camp ... lol So one day on the lake that i will never forgot , this was on Prersy Priest Lake in Nashville, Tn . My two buds and i all met up at the gas station that morning to get ice , gas , etc . Well i was soo excited to get going i told them that i would just drive down to the launch and get my boat in water so that by time they arrived I will be ready to go. Im driving my Ford Bronco that i just purchased for about $6,500 two weeks prior . Well the guy that i purchased it from told me to get the brakes checked , so i actually had an appointment set up for that next day monday . But anywho back to the story , i pull up to the launch and get the boat right back to the water . I hop out and removed the straps and trans saver , well i left the front straped because i was by myself and i didnt have a rope at the time. I get back into the truck and start slowly backing the boat in . I get it right were i wanted it and i press down on the brake and and ...YEP they went right down to the floor !!.. Im like holy sh&%$t ! I hit the gas and those big ol mud tires just kept spinning but didnt get traction ..the truck kept rolling back , and back and finaly now im half way in the lake . Now i gotta figure out how not to drown at this point , I took a quick glance around the truck , i grabed my cell phone and crawled out the window . I got on top the truck as it's slowy going back and back , i than had to jump from the roof of the truck into the boat . I stood there for like two min like HOLY CRAP! I then convince myself to just swimback over to the dock and wait till my buds get down there ..

These guys pull up and this is what they see . Me swimming across the lake toward the dock and my boat about 100 yards away from the launch . i get up on the dock and i just layed there holding me head . My buds come calmy walking over laughing and pointing , there like dude whats up ? did a freaking snake get in the boat again (they were so sure thats what happen) ..Im like man you will never believe what just happen , i stood up and pointed to the boat , im like dude do you see that little piece of plastic stickin up in front on the boat ? there like yeah and ?, Man THATS MY TRUCK OUT THERE !! see since i never unhooked the front of the boat it was still connected to the trailer and of coarse the truck is connected to trailor .. so once the boat had cleared about 15 ' of water it pretty much was just being held up under water by way of the boat still floating .. I turn back around and said THATS WHY IM ON THE PHUCKING DOCK! it was a akward silence and then we all just bursted out laughing our tails off for like 5 min straight .. Called the tow truck company which i later found out a new term that day called "water recovery fee" $250.00 this is what you get for that price . The driver pulls up to water jumps out the truck and pulls out a "J HOOK" and looks at me and said " here ya go" ..gave me instructions on were "I" need to hook the truck . My bud is like man what gives ? tow driver said ,i tow vehicals i dont drive for them .. lol So i manage the get some help from another boater that found my situation so funny that he stuck around just to watch , he ends up helping me get back out to boat and after about 2 dives i finally hook the truck . needless to say as i watch my favorite truck being pulled out of the lake i was truly heart broken . I look at my buds and im like , SCREW IT MAN BOATS IN THE WATER , LET GO FISHING !!
