Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I was out fishing with my youngest daughter last week after work and seen about a 5 to 6lb Largemouth cruising around this dock. I spent about 10 min just watching to see the area I was going to need to cast to when I came back. I came back about 20min later there was a big yellow lab on the shore barking nonstop. I cast under the dock about 5 times feel a tick and set the hook sure enough it is the fish that I had seen earlier the fish swims out from under the dock and makes a big jump the next thing I know the yellow lab has dove off the dock and is chasing my fish! I'm yelling at the dog and trying to fight the fish at one point the dog is about 2 feet from the fish just about getting ready to take a bite the fish takes a run away from the dog and then back at the dog finally I got the dog to get away and finally landed the fish.
What funny stories do you have?

Well this one time in band camp ... lol So one day on the lake that i will never forgot , this was on Prersy Priest Lake in Nashville, Tn . My two buds and i all met up at the gas station that morning to get ice , gas , etc . Well i was soo excited to get going i told them that i would just drive down to the launch and get my boat in water so that by time they arrived I will be ready to go. Im driving my Ford Bronco that i just purchased for about $6,500 two weeks prior . Well the guy that i purchased it from told me to get the brakes checked , so i actually had an appointment set up for that next day monday . But anywho back to the story , i pull up to the launch and get the boat right back to the water . I hop out and removed the straps and trans saver , well i left the front straped because i was by myself and i didnt have a rope at the time. I get back into the truck and start slowly backing the boat in . I get it right were i wanted it and i press down on the brake and and ...YEP they went right down to the floor !!.. Im like holy sh&%$t ! I hit the gas and those big ol mud tires just kept spinning but didnt get traction ..the truck kept rolling back , and back and finaly now im half way in the lake . Now i gotta figure out how not to drown at this point , I took a quick glance around the truck , i grabed my cell phone and crawled out the window . I got on top the truck as it's slowy going back and back , i than had to jump from the roof of the truck into the boat . I stood there for like two min like HOLY CRAP! I then convince myself to just swimback over to the dock and wait till my buds get down there ..

These guys pull up and this is what they see . Me swimming across the lake toward the dock and my boat about 100 yards away from the launch . i get up on the dock and i just layed there holding me head . My buds come calmy walking over laughing and pointing , there like dude whats up ? did a freaking snake get in the boat again (they were so sure thats what happen) ..Im like man you will never believe what just happen , i stood up and pointed to the boat , im like dude do you see that little piece of plastic stickin up in front on the boat ? there like yeah and ?, Man THATS MY TRUCK OUT THERE !! see since i never unhooked the front of the boat it was still connected to the trailer and of coarse the truck is connected to trailor .. so once the boat had cleared about 15 ' of water it pretty much was just being held up under water by way of the boat still floating .. I turn back around and said THATS WHY IM ON THE PHUCKING DOCK! it was a akward silence and then we all just bursted out laughing our tails off for like 5 min straight .. Called the tow truck company which i later found out a new term that day called "water recovery fee" $250.00 this is what you get for that price . The driver pulls up to water jumps out the truck and pulls out a "J HOOK" and looks at me and said " here ya go" ..gave me instructions on were "I" need to hook the truck . My bud is like man what gives ? tow driver said ,i tow vehicals i dont drive for them .. lol So i manage the get some help from another boater that found my situation so funny that he stuck around just to watch , he ends up helping me get back out to boat and after about 2 dives i finally hook the truck . needless to say as i watch my favorite truck being pulled out of the lake i was truly heart broken . I look at my buds and im like , SCREW IT MAN BOATS IN THE WATER , LET GO FISHING !!
E-brake dez?
That's pretty funny Mark. You are a way better swimmer than me.
I have one question though. After you swam out to your boat and remembered the keys were in your pocket on the dock, why didn't you use the trolling motor to pull the boat back?

So I go to Sammamish a couple of years ago to fish in the middle of the week in September. Nice fall morning, get ready to launch the boat, tie off the rope to a cleat to launch and put the boat in. Drive the truck and park and get out of the truck to see my Nitro floating away. I'm like " what the f*@K". The boat had pulled the cleat out. So I'm standing on the dock figuring out the best solution. No other boats and nobody at the ramp. Damn. Well I strip down and jump in leaving the clothes on the dock. Swim out about 50yds and get the boat. Remembering the keys to the boat in the pocket of said shorts back at the dock. Damn again. Swim back to dock. Get keys swim back to boat. By this time a school bus pulls up. Lady gets out of school bus to take a smoke break before heading back to the bus yard. Bring the boat back to the dock, jump out buck ass naked and toweled off got dressed and proceeded to give her "less" than she was wishing for that morning at went fishing.
