Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I am looking for a good lake on the east side or west side my two boys and I can go boat camp and have a good time catching some largies and smallies in early July.

Thank you

Potholes meets all your criteria

I agree, Potholes should do you well.

Evergreen res. is a cool place to camp and fish though I don't believe they have Smallies.....they do have good fishing for Largies, Walleye and some Tiger Musky as well as Trout.

Thank you everyone.

I would like to add can I also shoot rifles and handguns at some of these areas?

This sounds like an AWESOME father and sons camping trip in the making!

The oldest boy is heading to college, so I want both of them to have a great time. My youngest is really close to my oldest.  So guns and fishing is what we like to do.. so why not combine them..

Take them to the Canals this weekend. You can catch both species in there, and fire off some guns to boot! In all honesty I think Potholes camping back in the dunes would be perfect, the only downfall in July can be the bugs.

i will be headed there for my first time in over 8 years. lol we'll be there from june 13th-17th. i dont really know the lake very well. any tips on what works good for bass? color? lure? plastics? i have pretty much every bass bait known to man. and we have a depth finder... just looking to make a fun trip out of it as there will be some little kids with us & not trying to find the fish the whole time.

Thanks everyone for any tips/advice!!

Good time to throw frogs in dunes. Largies will be in all 3 stages, so you should be able to spot some on beds as well. Smallies should be eating heavily around goose island, tubes and grubs exc....

Thumbs up on Potholes, it was my first thought when I read your post. It rocks at this time, and the weather is 100% great.  In addition to what others said. There will be tons of largies in the reeds and bushes from the Blythe launch ( public launch next to Mardons)  to the State park.( easily reachable by any boat)

As for Shooting, You can hike into the various potholes around the reservoir and probably find a pretty private and safe spot to shoot along with finding some cool off the beaten path places to fish.  I don't have much experience on the latter but check google maps for potholes and you'll get the idea and there is so many critter trails its pretty easy hiking. ( this would be leaving the boat behind for the day).

Have Fun.

Wow sounds fun Ill bring the suds!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Looks like potholes in early July is where we are going to go.. We will bring a mini arsenal with us and plenty of metal shooting targets. I have never fished potholes so around the 2 week of July we should see the largies in spawn and post spawn mode? or will the spawn be over and they are heading deeper for the summer pattern?

Thank you again.
