Washington Fishing

The Online Source for Washington Fishing Information

I am looking for a good lake on the east side or west side my two boys and I can go boat camp and have a good time catching some largies and smallies in early July.

Thank you

There are smallmouth in Evergreen (and some big ones too) as well as all the other fish you mentioned.  I would agree with everyone else, Potholes would be a great choice.  If you are feeling adventurous,  take a tent and go camp on one of the sand dunes. That is always a good way to get away.

Evergreen res. is a cool place to camp and fish though I don't believe they have Smallies.....they do have good fishing for Largies, Walleye and some Tiger Musky as well as Trout.

ill be headed to potholes in 2 weeks. do you guys think the sand dunes will still be fishable? like i can still get a small aluminum boat up there? and what works good? i heard senkos and spinnerbaits this time of the year next to stumps and beaver dams.. Any other tips ans i want this to be a secussful trip!

I suck at potholes.   But what I do know, is they will all be done spawning.  The good news is that the frog/buzzbait bite should be strong by then.   If i was you, I would be on the water at first light throwing frogs/buzzbaits.  When you start getting hungry, then eat a sandwich and go shoot a bunch of stuff.....then return to the lake for the evening topwater bite!   If you have a friend or know someone with a carp bow....you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to shoot carp.  I'm not good at that either, but it is fun if the fish aren't snappin.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. Looks like potholes in early July is where we are going to go.. We will bring a mini arsenal with us and plenty of metal shooting targets. I have never fished potholes so around the 2 week of July we should see the largies in spawn and post spawn mode? or will the spawn be over and they are heading deeper for the summer pattern?

Thank you again.

when you guys are fishing up by the sand dunes, are you using a slow retrieve? and also, whats a good part of the lake to try for some walleye?

In the summer time the best way I know to catch Walleye is to troll small Rapala shadraps in the main channels of the sand dunes.  When you arrive I would recommend you go to Mardon and talk to Rob or Mike the owner operator.  They will give you the real time update on what is working and where! Bass will bite a variety of baits in the sand dunes some fast some slow...

Just take the dog for a walk and you'll catch a few
